I haven't read any of this but as the series has gone on I have less and less issues with the mods as it's becoming obvious that pretty much every important companion is going to be straight.

"Even"?? That one was actually completely valid point. I've met many people who were defending making established gay characters bi (or even straight) by stating that if the same is done to characters previously presented as straight then it's OK. They appear to be completely oblivious to the fact that straight people's situation is not the same as gay people's situation. There are no damaging myths delegitimizing straight sexuality, there is not really such thing as "heterophobia" and there are no "corrective" rapes on straight people to turn them gay.
And speaking of DAO, it had only 1 same-sex option of each gender while straight people had 2, and each of those same-sex options was also available to straight people, so I don't see any hypocrisy in saying that making Alistair and Morrigan same-sex options was fine.

Indeed, and for me personally the most disappointing thing was seeing Gaider's post on his Tumblr about Sera: "We were aware before the game went out that she’d be very divisive, but I’d suggest that’s the mark of a strong character and not a weak one".
Why I have problem with this? Because it shows that therefore satisfaction of lesbian players, so many times neglected before, and lesbian representation which frankly so far has been terrible in Bioware games was the last thing in their minds, while it was obviously a different story with Dorian. With him, it was all what Gaider said on some panel about representation of women and minorities:

Additionally, he suggests those of privilege to seek out possible groups affected by design choices and talk to them, or if security requires it not leave the office, to hire diversely. They should be called out for it but at the end of the day I agree with Uncle in that sometimes the best vote on a mod's suitability is simply not to install it.

I think I have to second this. Definitely one of the more compatible ones. Isabella would have to care a little more about the 'little people' and be a little less about personal gain...but I don't think that would be a problem at all for Isabella as Hawke can kind of shift her that way anyways.

Unless the rivalry undermines the friendship. It can in relationships like that and breakups in those kinds are the most painful and stormy. I'd rather see Sera with someone fully compatible with her and not a rival.
