a silly reason XD

well viv claims time magic is generally impossible but not "perception of time" so its not out of place i agree with ya.

Not at all. You're a Californian, as I recall? You folk use Fahrenheit. I use Celsius. :P

The temperature I speak of (100 degrees Celsius) is roughly equal to 212 degrees Fahrenheit, which is a temperature measurement commonly used in the US.

Celsius, on the other hand, is the same thing as Fahrenheit, except used elsewhere - Czech Republic, among many.

Wiki claims the conversion from Fahrenheit to Celsius is divide by 1.8, and Celsius to Fahrenheit is x1.8.

Yes, trying to covert Fahrenheit to Celsius or going from Feet to Meters can be a real pain. But, if you ever plan on vising a country that uses the Metric System and measures temps in Celsius, it really  pays to invest some time in learning how to do even basic conversions. I made the mistake of not taking the time to learn the conversions before working in another country for a few months. I regretted it more than once. Especially when it come to trying to fallow a recipe. The meal my screw up created is still one of the worst meals I ever had.

Don't look at me. I nearly failed math last year in high school. Just copying info from Auntie Wiki.

Feet to meters is fine. One foot is 30 centimeters, three feet are 90 centimeters or 0.9 meters.

So if you're ten thousand feet high in the air, my memory tells me it's roughly three kilometers, right. Let's convert:

10000/3=3333 (plus a spare foot/30cm)

3333/0.9 = 2999.7 (I'll make this 3000 exactly, thanks to the one foot we have from before)

3000 meters, exact

(Actually, I'm about fifty meters off because it's not exactly 30cm, but 30.48cm)

Just keep it simple 1c = 33f.

Converting distance is a bit easier. That I was able to pick up on pretty quick. Converting temps and weight, not so much.

Yeah, distances get easier, I guess.

I learned a lot of conversions back when I actually played flightsims, and my favorite planes were the Hurricane, Spitfire, Typhoon, occasionally the Mustang...

Weight, too for me. One pound = .45 kilograms. So a thousand pounder bomb is what, 454KG? Roughly...

All right then. I guess I will address this stuff.

Another simple possibility is that we just didn't get the later scene we needed to help explain things a little better, or that (for example) having one's memory wiped tends to make later explanations unlikely.  I'm not sure complex time travel explanations are required to fill the gap.

In short, overthinking.  In my opinion.  If that wasn't entirely clear enough.

Metric is so much easier and fun to design in, still pissed that US didn't switch. Only issue in my job is to switch your way of thinking especially in drainage design. If your brain is thinking in feet while you are looking at metric your screwed. For example: If you are thinking 10 cubic feet per second when you are looking at 10 meters per second your design is blown up.

* nods in understanding* so how do meters work?

Disclaimer: failed most of my math classes and math portion of hs exit exam. can do everything else but math lol

I could see that. You just have to be mindful of what system of measurement you are working with. Still wouldn't want to be forced to use the metric system. Being an insomniac makes anything but basic math and basic algebra hard to handle some days. lol

That's an awesome read, thanks. If the US would just make the conversion take a few bumps along the way, we would be so much better off.

One hundred centimetres in a metre. One thousand metres in a kilometre. It's always multiples of ten, which is what makes metric simple

One foot = .3048 meters, one meter = 3.28 feet

One inch = 0.083 feet, 12 inches = one foot, 3 feet = one yard, 5280 feet = 1 mile

Compared to

10 mm = 1 cm, 100 cm = 1 meter, 1000 meters = 1 kilometer.

So much cleaner and simpler

Edit: oops messed up how much simpler it is.
