But Cat whiny hero-worshipping manchildren are suppose to be universally liked by all and his aloofness is suppose to be endearing.
OH SURE KICK HIM WHEN HE'S DOWN >8(

And look, he still loves you even though you were mean to him.

I'm guessing that it's internal guilt over being mean to Alistair.

I don't know why people talk about a mythical Buffy season six. They stopped making the show after five seasons which is good because a sixth season probably would have been just horrible...
*checks for nosebleed*

Well he is Fereldan.

Okay I accept that the musical episode exists.

I never watched an episode of Buffy ever. But I am aware they did a musical ep because I watched a 100 greatest musicals countdown on channel 4 I think. Sarah Michelle can't sing for sh*t.

Me neither. I heard it praised many times, but I could never be bothered with it. Then again I'm not big on TV series. That's more my parents' thing.
Also vampires, werewolves and zombies have been overused in the last decade. I guess ghosts haven't been done in a while.
I rather like the fact that Sarah Michelle is married to Iron Bull ![]()

Ghosts are kind of a pain to work with, the whole already being dead, able to go anywhere isn't great for tension or suspense. Also I'd say they aren't really that cool to begin with.

And they never should have let Joss Whedon write the music (not that I think they could have stopped him.) But within the limits of what they were going to be able to do with it, most of the cast was pretty impressive, especially Anthony Stewart Head.
Buffy's worth watching, I think. Seasons 2 through 6 are great. Season 1 is weak, and takes a while to get going. Season 7 became unwatchable long before they ended it. They did some amazing stuff during seasons 4 and 6.
But my favourite episode is "Bewitched, Bothered, and Bewildered," which is just damn funny all the way through.

All monsters are a pain to work with in their own way. It's mostly a matter of finding a story that works well for the monster. The Sixth Sense was a pretty good ghost story. It was certainly a fresh spin on it at the time.
I must confess that while I enjoyed Buffy for Joss Whedon's humour, and there are other exceptions, I am generally not a fan of vampires, zombies, ghosts or anything supernatural in the real world. I prefer my fantasy to be set somewhere entirely fictional.

Also never saw that movie but I know the big twist, it's been parodied so much. I loved The Others, that was a good ghost story.

Most monsters are built on rules. You take Vamps, they're strong, fast and maybe magic, but they need blood, avoid sunlight and have a problem with stakes. That's a pretty good thing to base a story on because it gives you a set of behaviours to work with, cool power but also limitations that both guide the author and allow them to constrain the narrative as needed. It also makes the audience feel good because they can learn the rules.
Pitch Black features flying bat-shark monsters which come out at night. They die in sunlight, they fly, and they seek blood. Those rules are what the film uses to craft its horror. Light goes out that's bad, someone's bleeding that's bad, light goes out while someone's bleeding - yep, food for fishy. It also drives the plot because the main characters need to keep finding light sources. Video games have been stealing it ever since, because it works mechanically.
Ghosts are about ignoring rules, that's the kind of thing that lead to Man of Steel being boring. It can work of course but I think the idea is itself less interesting than Vamps, or Werewolves or flying bat-sharks. Though I haven't seen Sixth Sense, so I can't really say anything on that.
You guys, I'm dying.
I caught the cold going around the office and I am bloody miserable.

Bah, sleep it off a few days, you'll be fine.
Taking some meds may also be of use... Preferably the ones that put your throat at ease, I imagine.
@CaptivatingKS: Hope you feel better soon.
Buffy came along at a time in my life when I was desperately hungry for more stories with female characters who had some agency, and then there was a kind of sweet romance between two of the female characters, and that's really what started us watching.
The show is deeply, deeply flawed, and last year a friend asked if she should give it a try. I really didn't recommend it. There are a lot of other stories now that are what I'm looking for, what I need, and when I look back at the show I kind of "wow there were some problematic things there". I will never forgive the wallowing in certain tropes in season six.
But at the time, it was there at a time in my life when I needed something.

But it's my birthday this weekend. I don't have time for this crap.
