Hm. Wouldn't saying that necessitate knowing that none of the Bioware representatives or other people in the room were bisexual?

I could be wrong on that, but how would you have preferred the article handle things?

Ditto. How would you have handled it, Maria? Cause I thought it was a decent article myself.

Yeah, I liked that article too. Makes me laugh when people accuse bioware of 'biphobia', ignoring the fact they always had bisexuals in their games....

I'm not sure what you're asking.

Someone has claimed BioWare is biphobic. A straight woman writes an article defending them. She simultaneously does not explain the criticism, does not put any voice but hers into the article, and then specifically talks about how it's better to listen to queer groups than make it all about yourself.

Whether or not anyone at BioWare is bisexual is immaterial to my thought on this article.

I could be wrong on that, but how would you have preferred the article handle things?

1. If a favored developer is criticized for their handling of a minority issue, take the time to understand the criticism and fairly represent it.
2. Try to include the actual thoughts of bisexual people when writing an article about biphobia.
3. Don't make it all about you and your experiences.

I'm not saying she's wrong; I think BioWare is very good in its handling of queer sexualities. But the article is a blog post, not good journalism or a solid essay.

I've already answered how I would handle it, so I'll ask you a question.

At the beginning of the article, she says someone has called BioWare biphobic. Can you tell me why they accused BioWare of that? Their specific complaint?

Given the context, it appeared to be in making Dorian gay.

As someone who knows the specific complaint, I can tell you that's not it.

In the article, David said that Dorian was 'fully gay.' A couple of people objected because they believed that implied bisexuals were partially gay.

That's it. They just didn't like a certain phrase.

I haven't seen a single tweet or tumblr post suggesting that BioWare is evil and that their games should be burned in effigy. Simply that that was bad phrasing.

But it's much easier to say 'BioWare is being accused of biphobia and that's wrong. Let me tell you how awesome BioWare is and what a great ally I am.' than it is to talk about a few people wishing David hadn't said things a certain way. Because in hindsight, yeah, there are better ways to say that when comparing bisexual characters to gay ones.

If I recall, At least one tweet was about the 'fully gay' part in Dorian's interview.
I think similar complaints were triggered by the fact that it was said that DAI system was more 'realistic'.

I've read tumblr posts that accused of Bioware being biphobic because of Gaider's 'fully gay' comment.

It is, but such people are inconsequential anyway.

Actually, a person tweeted to Gaider asking 'why Bioware is always biphobic'.

If they were biphobic, they wouldn't have bi in the name!

Sorry.

In any case, Sera is a beautiful character just the way she is. Has there been any confirmation of her VA?

Maria has a point. I know what she means about the straight girl article. Good intentions there but very messy. Allow me to comment on this whole Gaidar "fully gay" incident.

I`m bisexual and I say: who gives a ****? Not me! You see, as a bi woman (not a fully gay one) I`m being gay only from the waist down this week....so sorry ladies! No touching boobs this week. See what I did there? I took it as a joke because I`m sick of people being offended by everything. In the States people call black people African-Americans, despite the fact that many of them have never been to Africa (weird). I think we are still good here and can describe them as black and white as white( colours are still not offensive). However, things change fast and one day saying sorry to someone will be frowned upon and that word will be banished. And then that`s it! All words will be forbidden and we will have to use sign language in order to communicate with each other. Until the deaf people start rioting, that is....
So much whining that important things get overlooked, but hey, what do I know?

I also thought the 'fully gay' bit was a little weird until I realized he was talking from a writing perspective.

Anyhow:
