So the win..is when its normal...dont make a big deal out of it ?

I personally dont care about the 'being represented' stuff . All I want is 2 thing: Let me be a women and let me kiss one as well . I dont need the smoochable Lady to represent me....

The one I'm play is suspposed to represent me....

Anyway..is Monkey on ? I need him noooooooooooow

Yeah, exactly. I like that's just another aspect of them. If they like kissing ladies or dudes, who cares. As long as they're a cool/interesting person that's great. :)

I haven't seen Monkey yet, sorry.

Hum..

but often its the 'others' who make a big deal out of it . And due to alot of bad stuff....representation is needed .

Kinda like.....anything else .

Oh absolutely. I mean, understanding won't come about if they're not represented. But I just think it would be a better arc if it was a secondary characteristic so that people get to know them as people instead of the token lesbian or gay.

Actually that's one thing I really like about Dorian. He definitely seems gay, but a female can flirt with him and it's reciprocated. So after you meet his dad you can accuse Dorian of leading you on.

I personally think that sexuality is best showcased when it's a non-issue.

This times 1000. Mostly because it shouldn't be an issue in the first place.

I have a lot of feelings about how negative stereotypes in media affect people's lives, often in devastating ways, but my trying to write about that right now isn't going well. A lot of people say it better than I do.

Yeah, my Inquisitor continues to flirt with him, and it all seems like it's mutually good fun, which I find makes for an enjoyable dynamic between the two. It's funny when he tells her "I do rather enjoy watching you leave" when you exit the conversation.

It shouldn't be an issue, but it is. It's not just academic, not just "Oh I wish this character were more positive because that would be nice"...  it's "I wish there were more positive representations in media because maybe less people would be assaulted or killed"

But maybe I shouldn't get started.

For the longest time I was like "does he not like me?! *angst" Because we were on slightly cool terms and I was female. I was taking it as "He's happy to see me go because I'm bothering him."

Yea, I won't be able to put my feelings down on paper as well. Because the negative stereotypes in the media boil my blood. To the point that  I got rid of my tv years ago and stopped reading/watching mainstream news outlets.

To throw a question out to anyone who wants to answer, though your answer would be especially appreciated, did Sera succeed as a realistic lesbian character?  I know you had concerns about her Iron Bull quanari line being taken by the game playing audience to indicate that she might not be exclusively interested in women, but taken as a whole did she succeed as an accurate portrayal of a lesbian character?

What line is that?

To the question, I dunno how to answer that. Gay women are diverse, people are diverse we are diverse people each will have different life experiences, I'm not gonna speak for lesbians as a whole, my experiences won't be the same as others.

Oh you should go for it! <3

Singing, or playing dress up? Not singing around here, ever.

Playing dress up, though... I already have what might be either AOR1 or desert MARPAT, I can't quite tell.

Just pants, though. Fat lot of use in central Europe, you imagine, being a desert pattern...

AOR2's would be much, much better... (Also, the only AOR2, fake or not, I can find around here seems to be a dedicated combat uniform, so wearing that on a regular day out is also out of the question...)

*fires revolver at your feet*

Sing boy, sing!

*spits into a bucket*

*pulls a P226*

How 'bout we dance, instead?

So the win..is when its normal...dont make a big deal out of it ?

Is it something you need Monkey's paws for, specifically, or does someone else stand a chance of helping you?

And that was believed by some that she may be interested in men, I don't even.

Especially since she specifically mentions it makes her wonder about Qunari women.

I'm sorry, wintery.  I didn't mean to make you unhappy or think about horrible things.  I was hoping to avoid any distress by asking for positive examples of lesbian portrayals.

I'll try to start.  I really enjoyed "Women Destroy Science Fiction"  and have high hopes for "Queers Destroy Science Fiction" as well.  I don't watch much tv and can't afford a lot of movies so I don't have anything from those groups.

I know you had concerns about her Iron Bull quanari line being taken by the game playing audience to indicate that she might not be exclusively interested in women

That line was about IB making her wonder about things.

How qunari women look like. Nothing "suspricious" about this particular line.

Also IMO, Sera is great the way she is. Talks about women, mostly qunari women and how they fascinate her. Only a daft ****** would think she's straight since she talks about women only. :P

Edit: T!t is censored? Really?

It's not a problem, I was just having trouble putting words together :) I still am.

There are a lot of interesting discussions going on right now among fantasy authors about diverse books, and people looking for stories about a variety of experiences.

For a character like Dorian, I would expect him to be a bit more subtle if he's glad for you to leave.

It's funny because it's a hard to miss part of that conversation. In banter (provided you're not a victim of the bug), she will ask Bull about qunari women as well.

Anyway, this censoring makes birds sad.

I forgot to mention, my only problem with Sera is that she's the only one who can get kicked out anytime. The excuse that "she can be annoying" is weak as hell because this is completely subjective. For me, Sera is not annoying, not even in the slightest.
