Make a spider piñata and provide a cricket bat.

Bullet? Faster? Oh, yes.

What did you think the Tommy Gun slung by my waist is for?

(I'm talking vintage here. Wanna go modern, I'll just grab an HK416 with a ten inch barrel, slap an ACOG onto that, ka-blam, versatile carbine... Funny, I have never held one in my hands. I have held a Vz 58, though... But 7.62 is overkill versus soft targets)

See if I were to post a picture of a spider, you and Dazzle will have to come to Australia to kill me.

By then, I'll have dropbears waiting.

Umm...

NBA player Sam Cassell, most well known for popularizing the "big balls dance" after making a ridiculous play in-game.

Unfortunately, the league has made something of an effort to hunt down the good gifs of that dance, so I went with a suggestive referential image instead. This is the best I can do:

A good way to get rid of fear is to hit it with a big wooden stick.

yeah, I have no idea what you just said.

well, idk! I'll... do something.

Oh, the Thompson? I'd probably pick the M1A1 Thompson. That's a WWII sub machine gun. Same era as the flamethrower on the pic I've posted (well, similar, it could be a later version used in 'Nam or Korea)

Alternatively, the HK416 is a German carbine, modified from the US M4. Trijicon ACOG is a scope. I'd probably pick a 4x TA01 for the HK416.

All I'll ever need. lol

The "Pig" loves to overheat. And jam.

And all those nice things you DO NOT want happening in combat.

HK416 all the way. Or if you want a 7.62, I'd stick with the Sa vz 58. 7.62x39mm...

Some say it's an AK copy. Nope.

Wait, different categories. FN Herstal MGs? Mk46, or Mk48.

You'll leave Aussieland eventually for some opportunity or another.

I wonder how a "Brown Bess" would handle the big bad spider? I'd probably miss the delightful *splat* with all the musket smoke.

I don't think that surprising her with her biggest fear then giving her a big wooded stick is a good idea.

Depends on how close you believe I'll be.

And if all else fails there's always the stock.

Neither do I. Poodle, you would wind up with splinters imbibed in your brain.

I can picture it. The furious, repetitive striking of blows to my head until that bat breaks in two... *shudders* DON'T GIVE DAZZLE A BAT!

Bah, it's easy. And I actually had to look up the TA01, I only actually remember the fact it's Trijicon ACOG. I go from then and visit Trijicon's official site. TA01 had the finest looking crosshair, in my opinion. I might pick a different one, after checking how all of them look. Definitely would go for a 4x scope, though. 5.56 doesn't need a bigger one, IMHO.

Yes there are.

They were not terribly accurate by today's standards however with a well-drilled formation of three ranks they could be pretty deadly at close quarters in their hey-day.

You can keep your machine guns. I'll keep my muskets and sabres. ;)

Bah, machine guns. Accuracy by volume, not my thing.

An assault rifle, however... Thirty shots, delivered at short to medium range with decent accuracy.

Alternatively, sniper rifles. Back in ArmA 2, I took a shine to the MacMillan Brothers' TAC-50.

I'm more of a Breitenfeld to Waterloo kinda guy. Or better put: Marlborough to Napoleon I.

How so? Everyone has a preference and it by no means means do I not read or enjoy discussion in other periods. I just have an area of preference. There was really no need to slam me for it.

haha that wasn't a slam and if you think it was then I apologize

I was mostly thinking of how the Battles of Breitenfeld and the career of John Churchill are kind of far apart, so using them as equivalent descriptors for the same endpoint is silly and weird

you'll note that the post was that the periodization was silly, not the choice
