That's because you see this when you see a kangaroo:

They're actually a pest in parts of Australia. They're also delicious.

So the one thing that really bugs me about playing my dwarf Abaeni is that she looks like she stuffed a sock down her pants.
What the hey, BioWare?

omg. what...but WHY? why is that...a delicacy? omg. OMG!
They need to keep kangaroo numbers down somehow. It's not really a delicacy any more than, say, venison is a delicacy in America.

They're a pest in farming areas so they get hunted to keep their numbers under control. I wouldn't necessarily call them a delicacy (it's sold in supermarkets after all) but it's a lot leaner than beef because kangaroo has very little fat.
For those of us in cities though they can be a source of (admittedly lowbrow) entertainment:

Why is it any stranger than rabbit, or pretty much anything else really?

I wouldn't mind trying it myself. It's just the shock of it really I suppose as we're so conditioned to the store bought beef from cows here with maybe, maybe, lamb. But in certain parts of the US eating bison burgers is common enough and rattlesnake is delicious. I suppose the only the thing that might make it fall under delicacy is how much out of your way you have to go to get it sometimes, depending on where you live.

That reminds me of an episode of Mythbusters where they tested the 'tastes like chicken' myth. Kari ground up a bunch of different meats and fed them to Tori and Grant (she's vegetarian, so she didn't get to test herself.)
It turns out that only chicken tastes like chicken. And boar too apparently. ![]()

DUDE IT'S A KANGAROO. that's why it's strange to me. And in the south of the U.S., we eat a lot of ish. I can't even fathom...where does the meat...what part is being eaten from it? how...how are they pests? these are genuine questions cause my curiousity has sufficiently peaked on this topic.
Think of them as deer that stand on two legs and it should make a lot of sense.

Probably something to do with whether there are enough natural predators for them.

I've tried things that were poultry-like but nothing that was exactly like chicken. Rattlesnake was very tender and flavorful when I tried it and I was told it was like chicken. I did not find it so however it was tasty. Frog legs came the closest really but still you're right that nothing is exactly like chicken and I rather suspect that line has more to do with getting people to shed inhibitions about eating food they are not comfortable with than truth.

Fair enough lol.
As I live in the city, I can't give a real in-depth answer but they eat grass intended for a farmer's stock in a country that frequently has droughts and bushfires.
As for what gets turned to steak, I would imagine the legs and tail would be the main parts. I'm not sure, I just eat it ![]()

Buy Vegemite. It's the only defense against Dropbears.
