I kind of liked the brood mother idea. Because it really up's  the over all evil factor that Dark Spawn have. The thought that my mother could be taken to the deep roads and become a brood mother made me really want to kills as many dark spawn as I can. Simply because it plays on the protective instincts everyone has for their mother. But, you all are right. They could have made a brood mother be the result of a male and female being spliced together.

I just spent 2 hours listen to this guy, Tai Lopez, talk about how I should join his 67 Step Program that will help change my life.

...

... Wish I had £67 to pay.  :(

I don't think it's that far-fetched for broodmothers to do that without being 'seeded'. Who knows what the taint and darkspawn magic can do

Fair enough, but the main point was that when someone pointed out that female Wardens were at risk of becoming baby factories, the answer we got was basically a shrug. 'Oh, I guess they can commit suicide'.

Then there was the implications of women being denied the 'time honoured' ritual of the Calling. By making Darkspawn use any and all genetic material, they would have solved that problem.

Heck, didn't the Blight kill whole regions of the world? Can you imagine plant based Darkspawn? They don't seem to affect bodies of water either.

The Taint sounds like the virus from Prototype, really.

Oh dear, can you imagine Alex Mercer the Darkspawn?

Not to mention the whole inventing a magical reason for an army of monsters needs to kidnap and abuse women as part of its industrial process. Like seriously, is that supposed to be cool?

Can you imagine if this was what a broodmother looked like?

I'm not sure, the broodmother's horror was all based on the once a person shtick it had going, which I think that design (and a lot of Lovecraft stuff) loses.

It wont look as fancy, the the best way to do it if you don't have frosting pipe is to grab a freezer bag, cut off a corner and use it as a pipe. You also want to make sure your frosting and cake are at least room temp or a bit lower. As for piping frosting in general, slow and steady is always the best way to do it.

'Magic did it' is indeed kind of a lame explanation.

True, but then you could use the giant amorphous mass to draw a parallel with society and make it symbolic and everything.

Darkspawn VS People

Mindless VS Thinking

Unified VS Infighting

Destructive VS Creative

Etc. etc.I would have preferred if all darkspawn were simply tainted people. Evil can only corrupt, never create and all that. Ties in nicely with the religious side of the story too.

Oh I've done it before and it always turns out perfectly lovely, I just meant I'm not confident in piping braids of it. :)

Man, I was never able to get them right. But, never really practiced. I'm less of a baker and more of a cook. If  wan't your stuffed pork loin properly tied with  a single string I can do that. But asking me to frost a cake with braids or some fancy design is not  good idea. Because it's going to come out messy.

I can do cookies and scones and biscuits (american) and bread, but I've never actually spent much time baking cakes. Maybe I should try that more.

Now I'm thinking it's been a long time since I made chocolate truffles. Too long.

There's a simple trick for easy fancy: take a spoon and drag it along the cake to make grooves. Call it 'stucco style' and everybody is happy.

I was able to frost a spider web design on my brownies at halloween that turned out nicely, but my skills are really not strong. I have shaky hands, so I have to be really careful.

If you want fruit  or halved nuts placed on your dish though, I am your girl. I'm ocd about the perfect placement and it always turns out really pretty.

I love baking cakes.

I'm doing something similar to this design for my peach torte tomorrow.

It already is symbolic though, the broodmother is a monstrous corruption of humanity. Clumsy ickiness aside, that's still interesting, and potentially properly scary.

Personally I would find all the concepts you listed more interesting if explored by humanish monsters, because they relate to civility and barbarity, our ability to be horrible. To me a monster is more than an animal because they are partly human.

If our paths ever cross in real life, you and I will have to find a kitchen and cook a massive meal. lol
