Who else has Lukas done? I am not familiar with his work.
Aveline and Carver, recently.

Aveline, I think.
....I have very mixed feelings about that.
Carver, I liked. Was certainly a very flawed character, but I got him. Got the desire to get out of someone elses shadow, become his own man, and I felt he really ations once he joined the Wardens.
Aveline, I hated. I wanted to like her going into the game, I really did. But she was so judgmental, in everyone's business telling them how to live their lives. I couldn't stand her. Really, thus far she's the only DA companion I've out and out completely disliked.
An elvish rogue who also happens to be a potential LI to my male human rogue? Interesting, interesting... ![]()

I'm the opposite. I loved Aveline and despised Carver.
And I liked them both.
Mission accomplished.

Aveline I loved. Carver I've yet to experience. I'll get back to ya on that... but I know what you mean, divisive can be very good.
Me too
As for elf girl, I just hope I can give her a hat or helmet at all times because those 3 stooges bangs in the concept art are atrocious.
I somehow miss a ton of art pieces, could you link the one you're talking about?
Edit: Oh, the war room? I didn't see the 3 stooginess until now.
Edit edit: I kinda thought she just had a low hairline
Maybe they'll look more like this in game!

Mission accomplished.
I always loved Aveline, Carver took me me awhile to warm up to him. Adore him now.
That said, not being able to romance Aveline is one of my great gaming regrets.
Her hair reminds me of Yolandi Visser. I assumed that was what they were going for. Not usually my thing, but maybe it'll fit her personality.

So you guys intentionally create divisive characters for the sake of getting fans to argue with each other?
My bad, I don't want to make it sound like I'm criticizing your character writing which remains strong. But, it seems odd that this is a priority apart from merely making a well-written strong character and letting the audience decide if they like/hate the character without intentionally baiting people. It just seems like the former would muddle the latter.

They try to make characters that are well written and interesting enough that people either love them or hate them. If the reaction to a character they write is a "meh" as opposed to an "I love/hate X", then that would be considered a failure, because that character wasn't interesting enough to provoke a player's strong reaction in one way or another.
To this day, I still have to meet a Bioware character that I don't care about to the point of thinking "oh, character X? Meh, I don't care about him/her/it".
Creating well-written, strong characters who are different from one another is the same as creating divisive characters.
Not necessarily. If the intention is to make a good character and the divisiveness comes afterward from fan reaction without any baiting from the creators then great (example: Loghain). But if the character is more intended to be divisive for the sake of being divisive rather than for the sake of being a good character, then it makes them less strong because the writer's intent becomes obvious and this interferes with immersion (example: possibly Anders)
I suppose I shouldn't really be worried. Sera seems to be a very different character to Aveline; don't see any reasons why the traits that made me hate her will be repeated.
If anything, the "brat" part of her description and knowing who wrote her actually makes me think she'll be a more likable, female version of Carver; Carver was always trying to prove something to the world and himself by becoming his own man; if she's the lead of her own network of theives and spies, Sera's already done that. Will be interesting to see where that arc goes from there.

I have before, such as Fenris. I didn't like him, but the fact that he did nothing on his own to harm mages greatly blunted feelings of actual dislike into just not really wanting to spend time with him.

Yes...it's horrible. If that's not what the CC hairstyles look like (as it has been in the past *shudder*) I'll be relieved but I still want to give her some of Vivienne's spare hats...or even a hollowed out melon would be an improvement >_<
