Almost certainly. It was her party. She knew who she was inviting, and who was likely to make a scene. It's what she does.

Engineer all the way. Ended up working out quite nicely in ME3 when they made classes weapon agnostic and switched to the weight system, so she could carry an N7 Valkyrie everywhere. Admittedly, Soldiers got screwed by weight...and by the nerf to Adrenaline Rush...but they were mega imba before so whatevs.

Oh god I support this...I play engineer only in Me3...due to the cutscene in Omega where ya Own that cerbrus doo doo head ..and my 2 droids floating around  I mean they are sooo cutteeee....wish ya could name them..........

I don't have proof, but I'm fairly certain. I'm also sure that she would've had more than one back-up plan to ensure that her entrance was suitably dramatic.

I did not even know a term for it existed! Thanks Cat! I agree with both of you that Viv was likely hoping that the young ass would try and provoke the Inquisitor so she could play the encounter to her advantage.

Its a open world game that happens to have a coop mode. and couple of others attached, but mainly its story/open world not a linear corridor of shooting. hell you dont even have to shoot things sometimes, just run them over with a car or punch them

I'm late as usual but...yup, this ^

The 4th game is expecially fun since with the superpowers you don't have to worry about either driving (just jump very high and fly everywhere!) or shooting (just make things go boom with a well placed stomp or whatever!).

As you know, while I disagree that letting her kill him is the right course of action, I do agree that she has plenty of justification for doing so. Vivienne, on the other hand, clearly stage-managed the whole scene at her party. That's cold-hearted calculated planning, using a man's life as nothing more than a prop to make her entrance impressive. *shudder*

 

That's an interesting take on the scene, I never thought of it that way.  Why though?  To make an impression on the Inquisitor?  She hadn't even met him/her yet, and her own position and authority is far beyond that of the "herald of Andraste", who had just been denounced by the Chantry and branded a heretic.  I don't think she needed to, but then again she does seem like the sort of person who likes to make an entrance, and her intro was by far the most memorable out of all the characters..
