Good to know. So.. in comparison to a standard mage what do biotics do exactly? Like are they damage spell slingers or are they healers? What kind of damage can they do?
It sounds like I'd prefer the soldier build in ME2/3 than 1...
Heals in ME1 are based on a finite number of medpacs. Health also regenerates
very slowly over time. Each character gets shields as well, which regenerate more quickly. There isn't really a healer class. Adepts are damage/crowd control; they generally rely on immobilizing/damaging enemies by lifting them off the ground or sucking them into the air with a miniature black hole. Since they have the Barrier power, they also have good survivability. Adepts using Lift and Singularity do stupidly large amounts of damage, to the point where it is usually a waste of time to use a firearm past the early game; once you have most of your powers, you're good to go. Health packs are available in the world as a standard pickup in random crates.
Heals in ME2 are nonexistent. Both health and shields regenerate rapidly. Health packs are chiefly useful for reviving downed squadmates. Unlike
Dragon Age, the player never directly controls squadmates (although she can order them around) so if Shepard ever goes down, that's game over and a reload. Late in the game, the player can research upgrades to health packs that have them restore Shepard and her companions to full health and/or barrier/shields. Health packs can be recovered in the field, again, but if the player has a full health pack inventory she gains 100 credits instead of a health pack. Again, there is no healer class.
Heals in ME3 are kind of there. It's basically the same as the ME2 system, except the health bar is split into five distinct chunks; health regenerates 'within' each chunk, but if a chunk disappears entirely the only way to regenerate it is to use a health pack. Like ME2, the player is rewarded for not using health packs; instead of credits, however, she gains experience. There is still no healer class.
