I heard they might open one near me so I might try it when it opens.
Can't go wrong with Kebab! We've got a lot of Kebab/Curry/Gyro trucks and restaurants opening here of late. There's three kebab trucks within walking distance of my office. I like them cause their cheap and really good and if I am not in the mood for kebab they've got falafal or some other Turkish/Lebanese treat. Love that stuff!
Exactly! That stuff is friggin' awesome!
And cheaper than McDonalds. Plus, with the kebab place I regularly visit, you can actually see them put the thing together, so you can actually see what you eat, more or less. If you pay attention. I know they put in some vegetable stuff, then meat, more veggies, top off with meat, and they warm up the bread thing (once, I picked up food from them to get something in my stomach during winter, that thing was HOT)... well, they warm the bread up first, right.
Me, not making excessive amounts of sense. It's my new national pastime.

None taken. She's actually named after an actress that her parents liked. She uses my surname, which means that she's not exactly what people are expecting when they read her name.No offense meant to your wife, Uncle. I'm sure she's lovely, it's just not my favourite name.

Always better when you can watch them make the food. Agreed on that. A couple of the kebab places I go to are similar where I can watch them put the meat and veggies on the grill directly. Plenty cheap. One cart I go to I can get middle-eastern style chicken over rice with a salad and drink for $5 which is really absurdly cheap.

Hah, I can imagine.
They read a perfectly British sounding name, and then a Mexican comes up, heh.
Surprise of the day for some, I'm sure.

I was about to say that's actually sort of expensive, but then I realized the wage differences.
Seriously, that's about 100CZK. Although, main course, salad and drink, maybe I could stick my spending for lunch in the same place.
Except, in the US the paychecks are bigger, I guess... I don't know. What is the actual minimal wage in the US?
And I'm talking minimal. Minimal here is 9200CZK, if I remember the law changes right.

7.25 an hour by federal law although Obama wants to raise that higher and some states have adjusted it higher on their own. Wages fluctuate by job or income bracket but I believe the average household income here is close to 60,000 per year.

F*ck me!
My math is, eight hours a workday, 30 day month without 4 weekends (8 days) = 22 workdays a month.
1276 USD monthly...?
Yep.
Well, that's over 1500 CAD a month.
And now, behold. Because the minimal wage of 9200 CZK is aproximately 450 dollars, both US and Canadian (the two are actually pretty close in conversion values)
What a whopping amount!
Why do I still live around here?

My girlfriend is a sign artist for Trader Joes. That's a grocery store chain owned by the German firm Aldi. She paints signs all day (Paint Markers) for the store and does murals. She takes home $17 an hour plus, because Germans are wonderful to work for (not sarcasm-serious), she gets full healthcare, pension, plus dental provided by the company.

Cost of living though is expensive here. Even well above the minimum I don't have much left over at the end of the month for emergencies or anything like that.

Oh, wait. I'm the only one who would understand.

Cost of living is just high in the city is all. Roommates are very helpful. It's doable, just not a lot left at the end of the month.

The best way would be to transfer to a university here and get a job while in school. Then stay when your school term is up. If your employed that's all the US government will care about and you can get legal resident status easy that way.

If my last job is anything to go on I'll be well into the red just getting to work and back though thats partly my fault for living on a damned peninsula with a ferry that charges royalties to cross it.
