history i'm learning. ahh my fav thread. you never disappoint. *snuggles*

on an unrelated note, the absolute funniest thing in ME2 to me is in Thane's loyalty mission...when Shepard convinces that guy there's a bomb. omg i laugh SO hard at that every time. "Get out of here now before it blows !" "Blows? What the---" "RUN!"

Second to that is Kasumi's loyalty mission when Shepard scans that plant and says it's clean. Kasumi's all "it's a PLANT."

Or when she say 'OH found it' and kasumi goes 'Some dna?' ..and shep say ' no credit chit'

When is the best time in the game to play them?  Obviously there are points where stuff happens and you can lose people for various reasons and so miss out on their scenes...

I researched that alot..(same with DAO DLc and DA2)...

I say this: Omega is better played after the citadel is attacked...(apparently Aria would choose that moment to act instead of sitting on her butt)...

The Leviathan....as soon as ya Lock the romance with ya chosen Li...(well those who can come with ya anyway)...

And the Citadel DLC...right after ya Help Miranda...so then what hackette say make sense , ya know the ' from here on we go forward and we wont stop'...so one Last Party......

Yes. I agree.

while nostalgia is fun and all..

Tis is almost like HK-47 from Kotor 1 to Kotor 2 . He changed , and never was the same again . Almost make ya wish he was never transferred to Kotor 2 to begin with .

Same with Varric , after cass kidnap him and ask him about Hawke then release him , I would have though the 1st thing he do..is go after Hawke and make sure they didnt get to her (since he know how to contact her.. one assume he couldve asked for a rendez vous and they meet and so on) .

Sure it's thrown up into a bun, but that volume suggests at least shoulder length hair if not longer.

Which makes sense. Now BioWare just needs a system for swapping in different styles when you're out of combat / off duty.

dont care for lady croft?

Lara not Laura.

Sera: Someone's an arse. You, you're an arse.

She has a point.

Sorry if this has already been discussed but Is Sera, Amethyne from DA:O?

Sera is blonde, and Amethyne remembers her mother while Sera does not. Beyond that there's no reason to believe that Sera is Amethyne over any other elf girl in Denerim, like the one you can tell stories in the City Elf origin.

Also the thought of having sex with both Iona and a grown up Amethyne across games is a little bit no.

Personally (I know this gonna sound harsh) but I dont see why Varric is in the game . He shouldve showed up with Hawke then left with her....

Yeah, it doesn't actually have a reason for hanging around, and his arc doesn't go anywhere. I guess he lets Cas bounce some character development off him.

cass still could have had the same angry reaction if he show up with Hawke . Actually that wouldve been more fun.....

Instead , he is sitting there acting like know it all veterant . Wich is kinda out of charachter for him.....

and the whole 'This is all my fault yada yada'....

for me its just adventure. Seeing ancient markings, deciphering text on the wall... discovering a pathogen that somewho survived centuries/decades. It just seems so romantic to me

A friend of mine really likes horror movies. I kind of wish I could watch them with her but I don't do well with scary movies.

I think she's watched several movies that make "discovering a pathogen that somewho survived centuries/decades" less than romantic :) Pathogens like that apparently have a way of eating you or turning you into giant shellfish or something.

It would have been really funny if when Cassandra tried to hit Varric she missed and hit Hawke instead. Can you imagine Cassandra's reaction to punching the man/woman she's grown to admire so much? Ooh, Snarky!Hawke and Varric would never had let hear the end of it. :D

Or ice water, if your stomach starts protesting at the ice cream. Cheaper too...

Our nefarious plan worked. My friend had some extra money and spent it on a new console (PS4). She just sent me a long email about how stunning it is, how much more life and detail she sees, how smoothly it runs. She adds, like so many have, that they shouldn't have released this on 360 to begin with if it couldn't handle the game.

She's really excited about this again, like it's a whole new game. That's good to hear because she was looking for something fun to play. Now if she could just get the Seramance to actually happen... she hasn't managed to pass that "why is nothing progressing anymore" threshold in 1.5 playthroughs.

Morning Sera is pleased.

From what people have said here, her experience is far from unique. It looks like their decision to release on 360 and PS3 was a bad one. I wonder if developing for last gen might also have played into their decision to drop some of the ideas that they showcased in the 2013 E3 demo...

I hadn't thought of that. Wow.

She also says that now she can read onscreen text easily now, while she had a difficult time reading it before.

It's just a thought. If they had to cut down drastically on the number of NPCs just to get it to run as problematically as it does, maybe they also had to reject certain gameplay ideas. I have no clue exactly where the performance bottlenecks are, but it's something to consider.

As to text size, again that's just what Kasumi was reporting here.

I remember she was saying that. And I have trouble sometimes with the text, and I'm on PC+TV. My friend was trying to sit really close to the TV and it still wasn't helping much.

I'm just glad it sounds like she'll get some fun times out of this upgrade. She's really reluctant to spend money on herself like this, which I understand completely, but she loves gaming and it seemed like it would help her take some of the frustration out of it while the opportunity is there.

Hmm, I don't remember anything from the E3 demo which looked like it would particularly break a lower console. A lot of what was interesting to me was the implication of a proper strategy layer, you could gain and lose keeps and that mattered. We still have the keeps, which is the big resource drain but not the game logic to make them interesting. Other things like burning Templar boats shouldn't be hard to work around.

I guess there might have been some kind of siege battle integrated with that which broke the last geners, but the thought that so much was culled as a result is... disturbing.

It seems to me the key thing that's missing from all those ideas is meaningful gameplay about the Inquisition. Everything Inquisition related gets tied off into influence and power, and those cop out timers on War Table missions. If you're setting fire to Templar boats there needs to be Templar strength in the region which is being damaged by that, if you're building special spy keeps you need a spy strength which is used for spy things. There's a core to the game that never arrived.

----

Releasing across generations was always a bad idea though.

Yeah like I say, I'm not sure. I know nothing about what it's truly like to develop for these systems, but I imagine that having to keep track of various things going on off screen at the same time as whatever the player is doing, as they demonstrated at the demo where they had the player decide where to go themself and where to send their forces, with the implication that events were developing in real time, might be a drain on system resources.

I use an HDMI cable and the quality on my pS3 is nothing compared to the PS4.

And defintely WAY fewer NPCs.  You know that whole scene when you walk out of your house the first time, and like half of Haven is standing there assembled before you at the beginning?

On my ps3 playthrough almost NONE of those people were there.  Only 2 or three standing among the houses way of to the side.  None of the columns of people.  And it just continued from there.

More people in Haven.  More people in Redcliffe and the crossroads, more people in Skyhold, more people in your camps...and I'm talking like twice the number of people.  A huge difference.

So I can absolutely see how if it wasn't integral to the plot, and was going to not work on a last gen port, they might have scrapped it.
