i think the reason i understand sera's "unelfyness" stchick now is because i was like her at one point. I was kicked out the black community for being "white-washed" so she rejects it cause of what im assuming a similar incident. So that why i dont hold anytging against her

When she enter and face the Jeeday..OMG! I was so Proud of Mommie !  The best EPIc scene of the whole goddamn game .

I did her romance last playthrough. I played an elf. A Dalish Elf. However I rp'd so I was a Dalish "raised" Elf but one who was "questioning" and eager to escape the clan (headcanoning) and who was open to learning more of Andraste. Sera loved that elf of mine to bits and we got along famously. She does not like the Dalish culture. But she doesn't say anything too heavy about it but it's not her preference and Solas does get pushy with her about it. But she has nothing against elves she's just suspicious at first if they are going to proselytize her.

Strange..I got an opposite feel to it . Peoples assuming because ya come from the same country , have the same skin color..ya should act the same way or believe in the same thing..or even have same family values . 

 

the spell broke fast for me , cose if anything...I learned that I may come from same x country as the peoples I have met..and we may have the same skin colors..but thats it . We got nothing else in commun.....

 

And they have this tendancy to get familiar just cose....and I so hate that..geez....

 

Anyway , the point is : I understand not wanting to be associated to X peoples just cose we got same pointy ears .

I'm happy for your luck, but you can't deny that Sera was both designed to be the most blatantly controversial romance option and the one companion whom you can kick out at any time.

Sera's position on elves is I think completely understandable, she has a point even. But Lavellan isn't the cause of her issues and doesn't deserve her indirect jibes, particularly given Lavellan's current context (taken out of clan, thrown in the deep end, help up as human idol). It isn't an issue for some Lavellan players, for others it can feel like a lot of abuse.

 

I think it's actually partly because of not enough accounting for non-human protagonists, but there it is.

I'm not sure Knights of the Old Republic II could ever be a really enjoyable game, but it had some beastly ideas. The Exile is a contender for my favourite game protagonist.

You ever had someone break-up with you for a reason you thought was light-weight, from your perspective? Then her break-up with the quiz is realistic here. Sera does not like magic. It frightens her, demons frighten her. If you do every mission with her, if you take her into the Fade, you are given plenty of hints this might be an issue. People break-up all the time over "irreconcilable differences" so Sera is no different than loads of folks. It does not make her a bad person just someone who isn't willing to sacrifice her beliefs for the sake of a relationship. To turn this around what if it's the Inquisitor who gets to ask this of Sera after Mythal?

i try not to comment anymore on this thing with Sera and elves for two reasons: 1) there is no reasoning with people when they've made their mind up about the type of person she is...I'm not going there. 2)i haven't truly experienced what they have because i have yet to romance her with an elf. the first time Neriya Lavellan met her, i didn't like the way that she reacted to her. that set off warning bells for me right away and i refused to put my character through that. besides at that time, i was sold on romancing her with a fem qunari mage.

now...this is not to suggest i side one way or the other about her but experience is the best teacher and i'm not going to negate anyone's experience with Sera. The only thing that i can say is there are a lot of Sera's IRL...meaning you simply won't be compatible with everyone you meet and there are people with her issues too(which i do see. I'm not the person that blindly capes for a character). i get how this is problematic in game but not to the point that i will beat a dead horse.

I've often had trouble finishing RPGs, even ones I enjoy. I'm not sure why. But KoToR2... I couldn't get very far in that one because I wasn't having fun at all. It's like when someone tells you a book has this great character stuff if you can get through the first 200 pages, and I'm like... am I up for a slog? I could be reading/playing this fun thing over here and I'm just wandering through gray hallways.

 

Maybe I missed some great stuff, but at the time I just kind of wandered off into another game pretty quickly.

pfft the area i lived in was multi-cultural and because i had a varied assortment of friends of varying ethnicities and was very articulate and didnt "get down" with being "black" i had most of them wanna kick my arse so if thats not being kicked out idk what it is then...

compared to Kotor 1..it did have some nasty Bugs....

 

But..some can be worked out . Like the one on Telos by the door.....there is a fix for that one already .

I can't stand the way it double throttles you through Peragus then Telos. Though I don't like stuttery RPGs, and I don't think their gameplay actually supports unorthodox storytelling.

 

It is a game I think would be interesting to remake from scratch, possibly as a pair with the original. (Edit) That is rework the KotOR1 so that it supports 2 more.

Seriously ? I never seen anything like that...the only Bug I had was with a door...and one in the cantina (Omg now that one was Horrible!!!)..where that Pazaak quest related guy wont Spawn!! I could see his Name..but ya cant see him....and no matter how much I reloaded he wont respawn at all .
