But without the comparison, was it enjoyable? I'm not really into musicals, but I'd like to think you had fun anyway

 

Partially I'm a movie snob, so... In the right hands it could be amazing, but I really think the casting choices were off. None of the acting seemed genuine, and they turned Belle into this flippant sonority girl and they made Beast very flamboyant... 

 

Gaston and Le Fou were incredible though. 

 

We sort of had more fun making fun of it.

I managed it with my Lavellan. She relaxed a great deal after a point but then I was rp'ing as a Andrastrian convert anyway. When I got to the Mythal scene that was tough. I had to headcanon that one a bit and think of how I might react, myself, in real-life. I decided to tell Sera that I didn't believe any of it while secretly my elf did because my elf loved her and knew she was frightened, acting out of fear, and needed comfort more than anything else in that moment. I even imagined telling Dorian that I'd lied to her and why and to keep my secret and Dorian swearing to do so. Sometimes we don't tell loved ones the truth. Not because we're rat-bastards but because we wish to spare them hurt or terror. I looked on it as a noble lie on my elf's part.

See, that could be it right there.  I was doing a Proud Savior of the Dalish play through, she would have been happy with disbanding the chantry altogether and restoring the Dalish to what they were before, especially after learning the truth through Solas about all the things the Dalish were getting wrong.

Heh. Funny thing how mechanically an RPG is all about character progression, yet narratively their main characters are usually completely static.
 
Honourable mentions to KotOR 2 and Torment, but they put their character's pivotal moments before the game begins, which is sort of cheating.

 
I think it also points up how "character development" is not the be-all, end-all of a narrative, and why automatically expecting it from characters in order to have a "good" arc is ridiculous. The friendship and rivalry arcs from DA2 are instructive here.

No she was a rogue (archer). Raised in a clan but yearning to get free of them and see the world. Solas and her did not get along but for similar reasons as Sera. I had pretty low approval from him in that game. This current game I am playing a devout Dalish mage and have bumped heads with her already. But my mage is after Bull anyway so Sera can "deal with it."

Yeah but ya missing the Point . restoring the dalish would be something Your quizzie Want . She doesnt want to be part of any fan club....thats the whole point of Sera . When ya ask her where she stand with the Mage and templar issue..she tell ya : in the freaking Middle with everyone else...

 

She doesnt want to raise anyone flag or carry any Banner...she just want to do right for the peoples , the poor..the harmed...and so on , but while staying removed from any factions , specie , race ,ethnie ..or watever . 

 

Ya know..thats like...wanting to do good but dont want ya name to be plastered and connected to this or that....

Maybe it's selfish of me to feel this way but I can't change my feelings. Maybe much of this has to do with my general disappointment with the game as it seems like it’s been one disappointment after another. First it was a worry that the game was going to be Skyrimed and later the realization that it was. Then there was the Cass disappointment, so I latched onto Sera got excited to play as an elf and that turned out so well. Now I have a nice beautiful piece of artwork to remind me of my stupidity and disappointment.

 

You have a piece of artwork? And what was the Cass disappointment?

I can't bring myself to do the rivalry. Same with renegade in Mass Effect. I just can't do it. Makes me feel rotten...

Books get organized by Author's last name alphabetical and then by publication date.
