See if they aren't part of the same story I don't care what order they are, because it doesn't matter what order I read them in.  But I don't really have any of those. I have to sort like this.

Purely Academic

Non-Academic Reference/Non-Fiction

Novels (small section)

Sci-Fi Fantasy Novels (Biggest Section by far)

Super Huge Books that don't fit normally on a shelf(LIke my Star Wars Encylopedia or Final Fantasy Strategy Guides)

Since most of my multiple authors are sci-fi fantasy with series, I don't really have your situation with Koontz and Stephen King.

But I have a ton of books by my favorite author, Terry Brooks, who did the Shannara and Landover series at the same time, and then went back and wrote prequels. Plus there is a whole Knight of the Void which is a stand alone series but technically a prequel connecting modern day to the shannara series and...yeah..anyways.

So for story reading order I can't sort by publication date or they'd be all over the place, mixed together.

Ah, see I don't sort by genre. Everything goes together by author's name because they're all some realm of fiction. And if I'm looknig for a book I know the title and the author's name, so it's very easy to just pick it out.

I'm happy for your luck, but you can't deny that Sera was both designed to be the most blatantly controversial romance option and the one companion whom you can kick out at any time.

As i've said many times, my only problem was the fact you could kick her out anytime.

But hell yes, give me more controversial characters to romance, characters with many flaws. I prefer this than the "Perfect Lesbian of Thedas". I don't want my ladies to be perfect. I want them to have flaws, that makes them more "alive".

If Sera had the same opinions on qunari and luuuuuuuved dalish elves, you'd praise her just like you do with Merrill. The problem isn't how Sera is written, the problem is that you don't like the fact she doesn't like dalish elves.

Cose....some years back , in another Town....I was living on the 2nd floor . And I had this Big Tree blocking the only window I had . And there was this gray big fat squirel who decided...that that tree is the perfect for him to make mating Noise every freaking morning at 6am . And it wasnt even scared ! I kept going 'shoo shoo' and it just Look at me while puffing his cheeks....

Maybe it's selfish of me to feel this way but I can't change my feelings. Maybe much of this has to do with my general disappointment with the game as it seems like it’s been one disappointment after another. First it was a worry that the game was going to be Skyrimed and later the realization that it was. Then there was the Cass disappointment, so I latched onto Sera got excited to play as an elf and that turned out so well. Now I have a nice beautiful piece of artwork to remind me of my stupidity and disappointment.

Bolding is important to me.

Like, really really heartbreakingly important to me.

With most games, I don't come up with prior expectations about ships and character arcs and all that. I try to remain neutral about them, and I usually avoid disappointment. But the Cassandra thing was huge. I remember her thread immediately after she was announced as a romance option along with Cullen, and how it was full to bursting with other women. I remember how we didn't initially know that not all romances would be bisexual, and then after they made the 2-2-2 plus announcement we still tried to rationalize Cassandra being bi or lesbian. ("Maybe Vivienne will be the straight woman!" Yeah, okay, Past Eirene.) So then they came out with The Chart and Cass was straight, which sucked, and then I played through the game, found I could flirt with her anyway, and got that crushing rejection scene after "Promise of Destruction", and that sucked more.

Right now, after three months and a couple of PTs, I really like the game. It's technically superior to DA:O and DA2 in basically every way, the writing is better and tighter, and the characters are a lot of fun. I adore Buttercup and Ruffles. But, y'know, my enduring takeaway is going to be remembering how, once again, the character I was most interested in as a lesbian romance in a BioWare game ended up being straight. That hits a bit too close to home for me. It reminds me of Bastila, and Miranda, and Jaesa, and Morrigan, and Risha. It reminds me of how other women fawned over Liara, the Great Blue Hope of queer representation, while all I could think about was how wooden and creepy she was, and how her character made no sense to me, and how I couldn't stand her voice, and how her attempt at intimacy made my skin crawl.

...f**k. I said I wasn't going to talk about this, and I am, because I'm an idiot, and I told myself I wasn't going to get teary, but I am, because I'm a sap.

I'm sorry. This is more about me than it is about you. That's wrong of me. But I know where you're coming from, and I know it does suck, and I know it can sap enjoyment of the game. I completely agree with you about many of those things.

But I don't see this as a problem with the game, or the game's writing. We have representation. The writers aren't under an obligation to make that representation the specific sort of fictional character that we personally want to see. There's no way to do that. Sera as she is loses the hardcore Dalish fanbase, but Sera as, say, another Merrill would lose a different one, for equally valid reasons. That's how characters are. Not every character is for everybody.

I'm not trying to tell you you shouldn't be sad or discouraged. You've got good reasons for doing so. It's not selfish to think that way. But it's not the game's fault, or the writers' fault, or Sera's fault, or your fault.

I used the word "d*ck" without the asterisk.

Also, I don't know... maybe I'm officially on their radar.  :P
