nah but i don't get that because.....the dalish have never been portrayed as that great though. i have no desire to see them being portrayed as Proud and Good and Woobie Victims or whatever, but this game was so reductionist and heavy handed and i do care about narratives being genuine and interesting.  i don't think any group of people, fictional or otherwise, are that great because people are complex and interesting and often assholes in groups, but even in origins they've always had their flaws pretty heavily featured so i don't understand why people (not talking about you here I'm thinking of other discussions I've seen) are acting like this game is "finally" showing them in the right light. i mean, it didn't even show them, it just sort of smacked them down without letting them react. i mean if the game had revealed that andraste was actually a blood mage and the maker was a demon, you can bet that the game would explore that with more depth and have npcs who are having conflicting reactions to it and it would be a big point for the andrastrian players, you know? 

 

i just don't get why they didn't try making it a more nuanced and interesting story that's all. i mean even tevinter and par vollen get more in depth explorations of their cultures

The whole Andraste birthed ya from the fade....

 

we go there , we see...we learn the truth......then Hawke tell us to Lie....and I'm like..whaaaaaaaaaat? then ya come back and those warden act like babies..so I lose it and I'm like 'get out get out I was putting on mah bra'......then...Hum..what happen after that again? 

 

Anyway...the point is...beside Leliana....ya dont get anymore mention about what ya saw..and how ya kicked butt in there..and anything . 

 

so no surprise nobody react to anything..I mean sure they upgraded the wheel of dialogue to more 'emotions'..but there are no emotions in there at all . Its ALL WATEred downnnnnnnnn....and not even green...

 

The dalish may never have been portrayed good , but the way peoples (not ya) whine about Sera...it come off often as 'we are the supreme race , how dare she make us choose between our belief , our past , and her'.....at least thats often the Vibe I get everytime someone complain Sera ditched their Elfish...

yeah i get really annoyed at how people are so quick to rewrite or re-contextualize solas's reactions to the dalish/CE or willing to criticize the game itself for it's elven failures, but with sera it's like THIS IS HER FAULT I HATE HER like she's the only part of the game that's not fictional, like it's not possible to be sympathetic to her and like her as a character even if she represents some things you don' t like about the series, like there's a line in the sand between "character i can redeem even though i have problems with because the character themselves is appealing i'll find a way to make it work" and "irredeemable trash" and everyone besides sera is on the "i'll find a way to make this work" side

 

i mean it's people's games and their experiences they should react as they want to and it's all very complex and tied up in a lot of things....but it's obnoxious.
