I was reading a book about Malcolm X today, and it struck me that Sera sort of reminds me of him back when he was a street hustler in Boston and New York. Though some of that might be because I thought it'd be hilarious for Sera to undergo a religious conversion and emerge as a "by any means necessary" elven patriot.

With the discovery that Lyrium is alive, one could argue that all magic is blood magic anyway.

 

Depends what they mean by alive. I think it's still supposed to be a collection of singing rocks, and not alive in a human sense.

like its used to describe any magic use that uses blood as a power but also seems to have specific spells that can only be blood magic (so has to use blood as fuel? Or is it only the blood mages do those spells?)

 

It's not clearly defined.

 

There's two considerations.

- spells which are powered by blood, which apparently is more powerful than mana

- spells which involved using / controlling biology, like the mind control thing Blood Mages can do.

 

Limiting the definition to power keeps it pretty limited, opening it up to include the later would add a lot of regular spells like life drain as well as probably things like the Dark Ritual.

 

I think that's the point though. It's abstract and people try to have big morale arguments about it even though they have different ideas about what it is, meanwhile others try to ban anything even vaguely like it. It's like Communism Magic.

 

 

 
But killing off the Dalish clan has, uh, always been an option in these games.

 

Being rescued by Flemeth, having sex with Isabella, killing the Dalish. Inquisition only got one of these time honoured Dragon Age traditions right, and that was done in text.

I would like to see blood magic unpacked more. Not like, more defined, but explored. Hopefully a Tevinter game would do that though. Glad to see my loose understanding of it seems to match up with lore though.

this beta patch 5 is for pc only when it happens. i'll reserve my excitement til it makes it down the line for PS3. if it ever does.
