Ooh! Well, as I said Sera's feels like it has more depth (to me, at least). And in spite of what Bioware says Josephine's romance seems more geared towards a male PC. There are parts that feel a bit weird to me with a female PC.

And Josephine never invites us to tea with the other advisors. No, I will never get over that!

I agree that Sera's has more depth.  Why do you feel Josephine's romance seems more geared to a male PC?  What parts feel weird?  (I'm not sure about the whole fighting a duel for my beloved thing.)

Not a big fan of Josie. She's to prim and proper, felt like I was watching a Disney flick.

I like her fine, but she's too well adjusted. Everyone else has a bundle of issues for us to wade through. She doesn't. Her personal quest revolves around her family's finances.

I disagree with the the 'Josephine is a Disney princess' thing because she has more nuance than that. She can get pretty dark at times and she absolutely has a naughty streak.

Spoiler

So yeah, she's a far cry from Cinderella, Snow White, Little Mermaid and Jasmine. Some of the more recent Disney princesses have had a 'badass' side, but few of them get as nasty as Josephine can.

She has a problem with spilling blood. Destroying reputations and fortunes though? No problem.

Me too/neither. I think whoever wrote the quiz is biased towards him, and hence cool people get him. That must be the answer. ;)

I just took it again. Punched in "female." Still came up Alistair. I have some serious issues.

It's the duel, mostly. I know the Inquisitor is the one who sets it up because kissing privileges are revoked and Otranto accepts because refusing a challenge from the Inquisitor would hurt his standing, but still... It's unusual, that's for sure.

Precisely! Ending their life? No. Destroying everything that they hold dear? Sure!

In some ways, she's even more vicious than Leliana. She leaves them alive to suffer.

Some assume it's geared towards male PCs because it's usually done for their hand in marriage, but in Josie's case you aren't dueling for her hand you're dueling to show that your relationship with her was more than a fling and that you care for her (and willing to fight for her after she tells you not to do it :P)

Cat i never commented on that point that you made before about Josie...feeling like she is geared more toward a male but i am inclined to agree with you. This is probably why i have only romanced her once. i get what you mean because i felt it too.

Did you feel it was geared more toward a male for the same reason as Cat?

That's a very good point. I hadn't considered it.

Maybe It's us who are too old fashioned... There is also the fact that Josie can be observed showing interest in Blackwall if she is not romanced and she is clearly appreciative of Iron Bull's physique if we romance him, but we never see her display any interest of any kind in women. And yes, I know, being bi is not about being attracted to everyone. And Leliana is a bisexual with an implied preference for women, so it's not like Bioware didn't do it before.

It's just that Josephine's romance feels a bit empty at times. She sends little notes to Blackwall if not romanced. Why not do the same for us if she is romanced? It would have been adorable to find notes in our pack wishing us luck, asking us to be careful, etc. Even just one that said 'My prayers are with you. Come back safely' would have added so much!

*sigh*

Did you romance Sera before? If yes, then maybe give Josie a whirl. I can't help but feel that the Devs trolled a bit with the Sera romance. That journal of hers adds a fair bit of depth to the relationship. She's also the only romance with a race preference that doesn't completely prevent a relationship.

Sera: the one character you can kick out at any time! One of the most divisive characters in the game! Also has the most in depth romance arc!

Yeah, I think the Devs went something like this:

NELSON-vi.gif

This never fails to amuse me. Sera's is the only romance that actually feels like its even acknowledged outside of maybe 1-2 banters, because of the nature of her romance quest, and she's got 2 lovely repeatable cutscenes you can have with her, and her journal AND nicknames are always changing and it's so dynamic.

Then nonromanced, her personal quest is beans and while you still get to do the cute pranks thing and can eat cookies with her, she sometimes feels like her entire arc got forgotten and then occasionally awkwardly shoehorned in last minute.

I mean!!! I'm glad it's that way, and that her romance isn't beans, but. It's so weird!

It really feels like Sera is a joke character, in the sense that they put so many little details that are so easy to miss if you don't bother. She requires work and patience. It's one of the things that make her unpopular with some.

Still, the other romances certainly have their moments too. The start of Cassandra's is both hilarious and adorable.

re: Josie. I actually think it reads way better for female Quizzie just because...idk, the princess duel sh*t, only really works for me becuase it's a lady fighting for a lady, otherwise it's bland as heck, lmao, so I honestly tend to forget that she's a bisexual romance option sometimes, lmfao.

But yeah, it's...a combination of the arc being very flat to me and also Josie not getting a lot of fun little things, and not being a companion, etc...idk...it just doesn't make me want to do a full PT with her, although I did enjoy watching my friends Josiemance.

Anyone who hasn't had to put in work and patience with one of their friends, has no real friends...

Edit:

Okay, so I thought this would be taken the wrong way but it hasn't so... yeah...  ^_^

agreed friendship isnt just bout getting along and being supportive... its also recognizing their "flaws" and conflicting views. And occasionally clashing
