I'm glad to see Wonder Woman get some time on the big screen. But, I really feel that casting Gal Gadot was WW was a stupid idea. I was really hoping they would go for an actress can really pull off the role. An actress is an Amazon, tall and well built. Or a actress that can fight and who would be able to effectively pull of the warrior woman role.  You look at a lot of female MMA fights and it makes you wonder why they didn't cast one of them in the role. Just look at Miesha Tate for example. Heck Miesha Tate even made her own WW costume.

I'm willing to wait and see how GG does. I mean, she's definitely bulked up for the role. It's not like Ben Afflect was in Batman shape when he was cast.  

 

I'm also just uncomfortable with criticizing her physicality in general right now, because it was like 99% of the coverage after she was cast, and no male super hero actor has ever had to deal with it on the scale she has, so while I can see someone having legitimate issues there, I don't want to contribute to it at all tbh. I mean, ffs, like half the posts on "legitimate" news sites were like GAIL GADOT IS WONDER WOMAN, ARE HER BOOBS RIGHT FOR IT?

Worth remembering that Gal Gadot was in the Israel Defence Force for two years, which suggests she is not a weakling.  Also did all her own stunts in the Fast & Furious  films.

She still fared better than Victor Ortiz though, which isn't saying much.

There's been like, one still of GG as Wonder Woman, and I think she looks pretty powerful in it, shrug. I don't think they're going for sex appeal anymore than they want all of their heroes to look good. At least so far. 

 

I mean I don't have high hopes for it because I don't like the direction they took Superman, or the comments I've heard in general, BUT, I would contest that at least.

It's more of wanting to see the character done the right way so we can avoid another Catwoman. Though you are right, really can't pass judgement on something no one has seen yet.
