Okay then.  Prompted by... someone's (I can't remember who) obsession with Sera in the rain, and an idea of my own that took control of my brain for a bit, we do here present another fanficlet:  The Rain

(Because apparently I can't seem to stop writing these things...)

Looks pretty good so far.

I'll leave a review when I get the chance to read it properly.

In the meantime I gotta finish my Varric one.

"The Inquisition needs all the help it can get, but what can one Grey Warden do?"

"Save the f*cking world, if pressed."

Whatever problems Blackwall may have, I do like that line...

I was forced to grow up really fast. 30 is my physical age but most people would put my mental age in the 60 to 70 range.I also been told I wise beyond my years. Also, I can't stand most people(not directed at any of you) or the world I live in. Before my grandfather passed he told me that some people are born ahead of their time or past their time. He said someone like me would have been at home in his generation or earlier. The older I get, the more I realize he is right.

Pfeiffer is best, you people are crazy.

But even if they are not willing to play without cheating...why is that a problem? After spending countless hours farming just to get enough mats for one armour set, you can bet I'm never going to play the game again without duping/cheating the materials in my save.

I'm in two minds about that.

A game is a set of systems and ideally enjoyment is derived from them actually working. I think developers should try to make working economies which require the player to make interesting choices, and that requires them not being easily exploitable.

However, most RPGs don't have working economises, most games even don't have working economies, they're just nonsensical throttles on progress.

Yeah, if Dragon Age had a better and more consistent economy or crafting system, there would be a lot less people upset that they fixed an exploit. But it's ill-conceived and obnoxious and the only resources I'm having to think about using carefully are my time and sanity so yeah

I'm willing to put in as much effort in as they did in making the final product effective , which is very little.

(I'm sure they put a lot of effort and thought into it and that some ideas couldn't be realized, much like most of the game's mechanics, tbh, but I mean with what I have, I can't bring myself to do much with it...which is why I use CE to get crafting supplies, money, and influence on subsequent PTs if I need any of those things. It just wasn't worth the effort to do it the first time, so I'm not gonna repeat it)

I think the thing is it's not really an economy but a progression track. There's no regular expenses, so all you're doing is saving resources to unlock that thing you want. Which in turn means there's no actual economic gameplay, the whole thing is just a reason to go out in the world and collect stuff - which is borderline not gameplay as well.

So more or less the economy in DA:I is a carrot on a stick, correct?
