Question. If I did all the side quests and stuff, would a romance actually develop in ME? Because it seems way to short for anything to actually happen. Or does it just set up exposition for the next game? 

 

And if I don't have any romance in the first game, can I still have romance in ME2/3? Or will Esri be alone forever?

Well if you barrel through the main story without doing companion quests or side quests, what do you expect?

 

The romances in ME1 itself aren't as deep as in some later BioWare games, but they sure are there, and once spread over three games like Liara's is, they are IMO deeper and more satisfying than DA...

I knew there were Romance Cameo's, which allowed ME2 romances that were NOT true LI options in ME3 to still appear as romanced characters for one or two scenes, like Miranda, but you didn't really do anything or develop the romance with them.

 

I thought anyone who was in your party who was a LI could be romanced starting with ME3?

 

But I doubt the chart's  lying.

Ya sure about Garrus ? i never seen any romance dialogue....with him . Unless I transfert a save..and I think Liara and samara are the same . and Thane , and *shudder* jacob...

 

Jack, Miranda, Jacob, Thane are people that you can only continue. Can't be started in ME3. Tali as well and I swear Garrus is another.

even though she's not a LI in ME1, I really like the depth of the Tali romance, ESPECIALLY because she's not an LI in 1.

 

My canon playthrough you develop a friendship with her in 1 that blossoms into a romance in 2 and then is continued in 3.

Yeah. That three game spread of knowing her is the key. I just adore Liara.
