Btw...those Bonus resistance thingy ya get in the Oasis...

Say ya open a door and it give ya resistance to fire....then ya open the one that give ya resistance to cold..that mean..ya have now resistance to cold and fire right ??

cose if taking one resistance will banish another resistance..that suck..and Im not gonna bother with that lamo place...

I wasn't aware that doing them all would cancel out the effects of the others. Where did you hear that? But then I've never managed to do them all. I am almost through the spirit resistance chamber in this current game. One more door to unlock. I am trying to do as many shards and astariums as I can this time.

No.

Really? What last part, in that case? And why would you advocate doing Emprise du Leon at 10-14? Surely you don't want to be hitting it until you're Level 14 or 15?

You'll find you bounce around a lot or at least I do. I tend to wonder how the Inquiz gets around all this territory so I've headcanoned that there are giant Inquisition Zeppelins, that we never see, parachuting the team into drop zones on these maps.

Not that I really object to Zeppelins, but since it's only supposed to be two days march between Denerim and Redcliff, I kind of figure that Thedas is just small.

Btw..is there any of those map...where ya should Take X at all cost ??

I left out Crestwood. I tend to do that one right after Skyhold. So before I head to Emprise. So lvl 10-13.

I try to establish all camps first and then take on rifts. There are places like the forts in Crestwood,Emprise,Western Approach that I try to take at all costs cause they give you some bases and some of them have things like places to make new gear outside of skyhold or to sell stuff. Plus the fight to take the fortress at Emprise is soooo much fun!! When you have to fight off the Red Templars and they've brought giants with them those are some punishing combats! But I love it!

Morning lovelies.

I refuse to do any of the side puzzles. No shards or astrariums for this Dazzle.

I might be slightly off on the lvl numbers for those as I am going by memory which is never a trusty thing. However I did say lvl 14 for Emprise which is still within reason. If you would advise 14 or 15 I don't see a problem with that.

For what I mean by the last parts of Emprise and Emerald Graves it's this: Both of those maps have final sections that are pretty difficult to take on lower levels.

At Emprise you can manage the first section with even the fortress at lvl 15 but once you repair the bridge and head over to the section where the 3 dragons are you will encounter lvl 20 Red Templars and then the high dragons. This is pretty daunting at lvl 15, no? So I tend to wait until lvl 18, at least before I do that section.

In the Emerald Graves there is a section at the northern end of the map with lots of giants, higher level Templars, and a dragon as well as a lvl 20 rift. I tend to come back later in the game to do that section. Is my meaning clearer now?

Pretty much but a lot of it is a "feel" sort of thing. You'll know the strengths of your group and you may find you can hit some areas a little earlier if you've leveled pretty well.

I actually do as many quests as possible before Skyhold to build up about 50 power and then once I get Skyhold I do Crestwood/Abyss/Halmshiral all in one cinematic run,

When you said ID, I thought you meant identification. Generally, you need some kind of ID or a pin in order to view adult channels. Not that I would know or anything.

uh huh whetever you say lol

I didn't know! I was so focused on the main story mission, Saren and the Geth and the Reapers, it was exciting! I didn't want to stop and go explore some desolate rock. I wanted to go chase Saren!

Yes, But I'd still do Emerald Graves before Emprise. Certainly It would be the last fortress to capture out of the three, as it's the toughest by miles, and yet you put it directly after Skyhold.

Anyway Alexia, my personal rough order would be: (and I'd say that the stuff I've grouped together you can mix up a bit.)

Hinterlands (Val Royeaux as soon as you have 4 power to get Sera)

Storm Coast

Champions of the Just/In Hushed Whispers

Fallow Mire

In Your Heart Shall Burn

Crestwood

Western Approach

Emerald Graves (except the bit with the giants and the elven ruins and the Dragon)

Fade

Exalted Plains

Halamshiral Ball

Rest of Emerald Graves

Emprise du Leon up to the Bridge

Hissing Wastes (You might want to go there earlier and just find the dog shop to get good schematics before coming back to clear the region later)

Emprise du Leon after Bridge

Endgame

I somewhat crudely measured it on the old Thedas map image I have from somewhere and the distance from Redcliff to the Approach is about twice the distance from Redcliff to Denerim. You could probably say three or four times depending on how you assume terrain works.

What I find is more odd is how trivial the things you do in each area are, whether its a day or a weeks ride, it's a fair amount of effort to just nip over and check what's on the other side of that bridge you built for the sake of building.

I know I did Emprise before the Graves my last game and it worked fine. It's a "feel" thing as I suggested to Alexia. You probably can do some of the missions in Emerald Graves at those levels before Emprise. I did not.

I even did the Emprise fortress before the one in the approach. I admit I used this tactic: clean up a section of Templars and check potion lvls. If low-dash back to the Inquisition camp outside the fortress and restock before running back to tackle the next section. I enjoyed playing it like that as it gave it a real siege feel for me. However I can see how it would annoy others who'd rather be at a level where they can take it at one go. It's a "feel" thing.

Alexia, take all of this as general advice. Play it your way or by how you feel it works best for you. If an area seems too tough for your party just make a note to come back and try it again later.

Hmmm... What do you do on the other side of those bridges? Rescue a large group of Celene's forces from an undead army, stop a Darkspawn incursion/chase down one of Corypheus's Henchmen, or slay three dragons. I personally don't equate "not an integral part of the main plot" with "trivial" but there you go...

Found my example map post for Lexi!

Mine depends on which race I'm playing and who they're romancing. Sometimes I'll skip entire maps.
But here's an example list.

Haven
      Hinterlands
      Val Royeaux

      Hinterlands
      Storm Coast
      The Fallow Mire (Optional)
Mages / Templars
In Your Heart Shall Burn
Skyhold

Crestwood
      Exalted Plains (Optional)
Western Approach
      Emerald Graves(Optional)

Emprise du Lion
Abyss/Halamshiral (Complete together after 50-60 power achieved)
      Hissing Wastes (Optional)
Arbour Wilds
Final Battle
