I hate George R.R. Martin's writing actually. I couldn't get past the first 10 chapters of the first book. Tossed it aside in favour of the Dresden Files.

Was it the point of view thing? It's a little weird at first but I kind of like it. Or, did anyway. I like how it leaves a lot to the imagination and how, what doesn't happen on paper, such as Syrio Forels supposed death, doesn't necessarily happen the way we think it does. People think he's dead, but because it wasn't written down, it's left open to theory.

He's started writing a lot of filler now though. Makes it a chore to read the already long books. I'll probably start back up when the new season comes out.

True that. I'm also biased because I associate it with my ex. I used to watch it for him, even though it drove me up the wall. But he adored it. Was obsessed with all aspects, blech. So I banned it from my household after he broke up with me.

*No I'm not bitter. ..Probably.

Ah... Well that can only make things worse, of course.

Some women don't get the symptom so the confusion is understandable. My girlfriend never complains of it although she complains of other things. It really seems to vary a bit by individual.

I don't either, mine are pretty non-descript. But still mothly+woman talking = usually 1 thing. :P

Well cat, you and I are both at home sick and hating life, just for different reasons. I'm dealing with a upper respiratory infection. Fun, fun.

The show is gradually deviating further from the books, although it's still pretty close as adaptations go. The whole sequence of events in the north is completely messed up, though...

No, it's the fact that his exposition takes too bloody lnog to set up.

It's a bloody rollercoaster every other chapter. Set something up -> Wait for something to happen -> Something happens (much wow) -> Set something new up.

No they don't, then you just get a sobbing todlet on a plane for 4 hours because they're terrified!

Tell them whilst you are at home, with enough time to allow it to sink in.

Oh ouch. Sick lungs are such a pain to deal with. Take good care of yourself! Try hot, hot showers to get lots of steams. I find it helps.

It might work with some kids, but it would never have worked on me as a kid. I would have been whimpering and sobbing the whole way to the airport and past security!

Yeah he gets bored and kind of freaked out and miserable. Scolding him would only make things worse, haha. Patience is one of those annoying character growth things you have to do when you have children.

I really dislike Game of Thrones. Loved the books, but I read them when I was a lot younger, and now am only invested in parts I think are slightly more mature or interesting. Won't even pretend that my intense dislike of the show comes from the fact that they don't find any of the things I find interesting worthy of exploring, especially when it comes to female characters, which they did very very poorly by. I actually generally like adaptations that play hard and fast, but they pretend to be faithfull but then ignore all the nuance GRRM put in. Which is less than I thought was there when I was 15, but still.

(Nothing brings out my bitter side like that show, lmfao, so I'll stop)

A little bit but I can understand why. There are lots of characters in the books and roughly half of them exist on the show, so important things need to be changed slightly so that other characters can do them.

The situation in the North is a little strange because it's all so important in the books, though this could simply be because what happens or will happen in the books might just not transition to screen very well.

I tried reading Martin but got exhausted with the endless character shifts or narrative perspectives. It felt similar to reading Faulkner again (although not that complex). I got fed up with it. I might give the TV show a shot but he did not top Tolkien or Pullman for me.

I do have a great doctor and he gave me horse pill size antibiotics(no joke) in order to knock this crap out quick. I'm also drinking hot tea by the gallon at this point and showing often. Hopefully,I'm only really sick for a couple of days.

i watched the first season of Game of Thrones. sorta had a thing for Khaleesi. never picked it back up and i heard it has gotten really violent and...less than kind toward women. the more violent part doesn't make any sense because it was always violent. wait come to think about it, i may have saw some episodes of the second season cause that lil boy Joffery or whatever...never wanted to hurt a kid so bad.

I never watched GOT. A lot of people recommended it to me, but when they tell me about it I'm like 'ah, no thanks. Not my thing'. I'm not a big TV watcher. I prefer shows from the Discovery Channel.

I like dark dramas, but GoT is not for me. Neither is Reign or a lot of the other historical fiction. I prefer history stories to stay in my books.

I loved watching Monkey World Ape Rescue Centre ( it probably didn't show where you live ). I got the chance to go there and it is such a great place.

Try Penny Dreadful. It's a dark drama that brings in a lot of characters such as Van Helsing and Frankenstein. It's quite adult though.
