Actually didn't mind izzy over much, but overall it would be clashing stupidity with indifferent apathy and greed with self interest.

I suppose upon reflection I was being too narrow minded. When I heard she was a thief, my mind immediately went "cat burglar"; there are a lot of possibilities, I suppose "wait and see" is the best approach.

From both the concept art and the description we have of her from the survey she seems like the polar opposite of Merrill. I wouldn't be surprised if the only similarity between the two characters is that they are both elves.

From her concept art she looks like an punk/emo/alternative out of the rules/funny girl! I hope she is really a unique character, and the crazy/fun element of our group

Honestly i have low expectations for this companion, same as the rest...Besides Cass anyway.

 

I doubt i will be surprised if she flubs.

Negative? Well i could just be voicing my opinion, Iron bull is an aged Mercenary, Solas is a renegade apostate, Varric is a failed Merchant, We see a common theme in every companion, decay, age, failure...It's just makes me curious to see what sets this companion apart, or if she falls into the same pit as the rest. Just common themes, over usage can result in stale characters, its just my take, my speculation on characters from a game that hasn't even been released.

 

Don't take it overly seriously.

Fun with Sera as the "Elder Tree" part 3!  This took a little while.  I decided to go with haiku for the Iron Bull.  For those that are unfamiliar with haiku (or if it's just been too long,) traditional haikus have syllables that go 5/7/5 

 

With that out of the way, on with the show!

 

 

Sera: A big horned one comes to me!  Care to trade rhymes with the Elder Tree?

 

IB: How long has she been like this?

 

Varric: Oh, I'd say more than a while now.

 

Cass: <glares at Sera silently>

 

Vivienne: Far too long, I assure you.

 

Solas: <glances at the sky> What moon phase is it?

 

Sera: I like to rhyme and run in flowers.  Not my fault everyone sits and glowers.

 

IB: Hmm, poetry then?  Here is some in the style of my people.

 

IB: To search for wisdom,

     First realize you know nothing,

     Knowledge will follow.

 

Sera: Wait, that doesn't even rhyme.

 

IB: Silence is golden.

     To learn more by not speaking,

      Is to find your path.

 

Sera: That seems like it's too soon, I thought you left the Qun.

 

IB: <sigh> I did not  leave all of its wisdom behind.

 

Sera: Back up a second...it sounded like  you just said that I talk too much!

 

IB:  <grin> Elf, in time you'll see.

               That listening to others,

                Gives you what you need.

 

Sera: Which is? 

 

IB: A stiff drink, in this case.  Think upon my words, is all I ask.

 

Sera: Hmm, okay, as long as you're buying.  <walks away in reflective silence>

 

Cass: <whisper> Holy Maker, how did you get her to stop rhyming?

 

IB: Simple.  Our friend is easily distracted, but a smart girl.  I knew the words that would give her enough puzzlement and encouragement to get her to stop that silly game, and would not leave her offended.  It's the best way to try to teach those that are as excitable as our elf over there.

 

Cass: <smiles> The Qunari lost someone special when you went your own way. 

 

IB: <smile> I think so too.

The obnoxious joker characters always walk a thin line. They've got to be funny and kind of frustrating at times, but also can't be so irritating all you want to do is strangle them.

Given that we know very little about the character at this point, I think it would be a bit premature to label her obnoxious. Assuming Sera has a crude sense of humor, whether or not she comes across as obnoxious depends on how well her jokes are written and delivered.

I could probably have worded that better. I wasn't calling her obnoxious, I was just pointing out that those type of characters tend to be hit or miss. We know almost nothing about her other than the fact that the one concept art paints her as a joker.

I think people are putting together two pieces of information:  the tavern concept art that shows her making, what many have interpreted as, a crude or dirty joke; and the survey description of her character that describes her (paraphrasing) as a brat who steals from the rich to give to herself. 

 

It's very limited information, obviously, but if those are both accurate, it does begin to paint the picture of a polarizing personality.  Some people love bratty, selfish, crass people.  Some people hate them.  I think we're starting to see people fall along those lines.  Now, whether that's actually what her personality will be like is still to be determined.

I'm curious what you meant. I thought Isabela and Merrill were pretty good characters, and it was nice to see them become very good friends, but they are very different people - the pirate who has sailed the seas of Thedas with the introverted scholar who is dealing with culture shock.

Don't worry. She will be. Everything revealed about her so far points to such an unfortunate personality.

To add on the voice thing, the VA who voiced Vex in Skyrim (Kari Wahlgren) might be a good choice or Kate Higgins.

Kari Wahlgren would make an excellent Sera! Can you give me some examples of Kate Higgins's work? I'm not familiar with her myself.
