I don't think that is going to be an issue since a romance in this game isn't measured by a meter but more of how the player tackles their relationship. I think its safe to say that someone isn't going to get "trapped" like some players were complaining about in DA2 and heck there were Dialogue option with heart symbols which showed that that option was meant for a purpose in romancing said character.

That's unless the players are not mature enough to deal with it.

I kind of get a bit of a Jack vibe from Sera. Not so much the "experimented on as a kid" thing, but there's got to be some story behind how she joined the Friends of Red Jenny. She also appears to be really freaked out by the Breach and other spirit-related things like Cole based off of the E3 demo. Perhaps she had a bad experience with magic?

 

I think everything that's been happening since the beginning of the game is her bad experience with demons and Fade related stuff.

I really like that personality type, but not everyone will.

 

On the other hand, I was never really feeling Cassandra but others around here really like her.  People have their types and all that.

A lot of fans didn't like Anders in DA 2, he went from being a positive guy with a sense of humor to a brooding, no BS, paranoid mage who ends up killing a lot of people, majority of fans just didn't like him. Sera seems to be the exact opposite of that who so far has a personality many can love, now that could change during the events of the game but who knows.

I agree that it seems like she wouldn't wait, but I think they're being more careful not to scare the straights. 
 
Even though Maria is right, since Sera is female and gay there probably wouldn't be nearly as many complaints.

And that's the sad truth of the world we live in. I know that BW is out to make a buck and are not keen to rock to boat too much but what I wouldn't give for love interests making the first moves, just to rattle people out of their comfort zones to show that it's not some world-shattering event if a person, regardless of gender and who doesn't know your orientation, expresses romantic interest in you. Minirant over.

They want one that is only for them, being Bi isn't really being lesbian since they like both men and women, which we have seen in EVERY bioware game, the only 100% lesbian romance was Samantha Traynor in ME 3 and she was a NPC. Lesbian gamers are looking forward to having a romance option that is just for them and placing a race restriction would ruin it for them, is that selfish? maybe a little but that is human nature for you, and most of them probably prefer playing as a human. As I said I don''t think the gender gated ones will also have race restrictions, the only ones I see having race gating could be Cassandra and Cullen (this is romance options who are already confirmed of course) since I can't see either of them being interested in at least Qunari. I also could see Vivienne being race gated since a person with her standards wouldn't date what most of Thedes see as lower class people like Elves, Dwarfs and Qunari but you never know. With Sera's personality alone I can't see her being turned off by other races.
