You can convince her to turn against him but I think she dies anyway since she goes to hold him off, not sure if she does actually die though.

That would frame it differently. When I watched the other one, I was struck by how quickly it escalated.

Maybe someday I'll play through the romance as an elf, just to experience it for myself because watching YT videos never gives me a feeling of full context, but I can't see it being anything other than a tragic romance, (because of what I find interesting about playing as an elf, not because I think sera x lavellan should be inherently that way, much like how I can only frame solavellan as a messed up relationship even though I respect other people don't see it that way) and I'm not in a hurry to do that.
