omg this is not fun. windows 8 booting to black screen, no cursor. I think nvidia drivers are having a little fun with me. So I'm uninstalling them all in safe mode right now, downloading a november driver, and then I'll reboot and try to get into safe mode again... because that wasn't easy.

 

Download almost finished, so I guess we'll see. I need to figure out how to do that thing where I can system restore later if there's a problem. Anyway...

 

So do you recommend the game?

 

If you like a game that's kind of a story with light puzzles and no combat (so far), then it's fun. There are choices to make that will apparently affect later chapters. I like that kind of game as a change of pace from fighting.

I just saw this scene on youtube. She's not just cruel, she's a totally un-self aware hypocrite. She talks about people trying to force things to fit into their world view while doing that exact thing, and she doesn't even realize it. And for someone who hates when people boss around others and tell them what to do and think, she is awfully narrow-minded about what others believe. I chose to romance her in my first playthrough, but honestly, she may be one of the first BioWare characters in the last decade that in part I just don't like. She's agressively ignorant and narrow-minded, and has the sense of humor of a 5-year old raised on R-rated movies.

 

Too bad there's no option to call her out on her ****.

Err, Zamboni has a point though. Sera is narrow minded and behaves much like the nobility she despises. Zamboni didn't come in here saying 'Sera sucks lol'. All the flaws pointed out are absolutely true. The 'humor of a five year old' bit is harsh, but still... there's a ring of truth there.

 

Hypocrisy is an almost universal flaw in DA companions, so it's not surprising Sera has it. Part of appreciating Sera is dealing with her flaws.

Err, Zamboni has a point though. Sera is narrow minded and behaves much like the nobility she despises. Zamboni didn't come in here saying 'Sera sucks lol'. All the flaws pointed out are absolutely true. The 'humor of a five year old' bit is harsh, but still... there's a ring of truth there.

what? she said it. the best exchange with those two will always be the "make it worth it" when Quiz is romancing Sera. That was very endearing. Lysindra had flirted with Cassie a few times...and some after that because she knew there was no chance. Surprisingly, never got "the talk" from her. But i guess it didn't bother her because she knew i wasn't serious. she called Lysindra a good friend last night.

Only fight left is to kick Corpyhallus striped stocking wearing ass to the farthest end of neverland. for the 4th time.

also, i was glad i could save Calpernia. idk...she grew on me because she really was being mislead. Now Samson...NOPE. i really have no time for him.

 

I like that you get two different kinds of playthroughs, Cal is the sympathetic villain you can save..Samson is the straight bad guy you want to kill...it works well for me..

Actually no. It shows up with other companions too. She chides Dorian for using words she doesn't understand (how he's supposed to know that beforehand is a mystery). She is very nasty to Cole in general, unless the 'human' path is chosen in his personal quest. Her Chantry beliefs don't clash with other Inquisitors than Lavellan, but she is clearly unyielding in them all the same. She tends to believe she knows better than everyone else (the prank quest, her interactions with Cassandra, Solas, Vivienne, etc.)

 

So yeah, Sera is narrow minded. She's more nasty about it when it comes to Dalish beliefs, but it's still there.

I mean, I'm pretty sure she was intentionally written this way. It's an intended part of her character. A discussion of said character is kinda incomplete without discussing all parts of them.

I romanced her as a Qunari too. The reason is "Woof!" She has the hots for Qunari in particular. But being narrowminded about some things doesn't mean your narrowminded aobut everything. Everyone has their particular set of prejudices and hypocrisies.

cause sera has a anti-elf belief system and its not as pronouced for the other races... it showes but in varying degrees

yes but Zamboni is presenting a side of Sera as being all of Sera and did it in way, perhaps unintentionally, but in a way had a tone that was less character analysis and more Sera is a bad character.  Sera has some flaws that are in your face and majorly irk people, myself included, but you always have to pair that with the depth that Sera does have, and how some of the scenes do allow  you to work through her emotions..

 

Zamboni's character description reduces her to a shallow character, with no depth, and that is inaccurate, even if other comments contain the beginnings of valid points

well I agree for cole....he is a spirit reading peoples mind without their approvals . Dorian claim to be highly educated but cant spot someone who isnt so he get it in the face   

 

And they arent narrow minded ? The others companions I mean...they are all clean and tolerant ? Please.....they all have their flaws . So I dont see why would hers stand up like it is Unique...

 

As for her belief clashing with a Dalish...maybe the elfish fish should get mad at the chantry for converting an elf to their view
