Racism implies you believe a race to be inferior, below you, flawed hence the word supremacist. I didn't see that from Ashley. I saw her realize the Council Races were full of racist that would drop humanity the second things got bad. And it happened, twice.

 

Okay fine. The problem with Ashley is that she advocates action which would exacerbate the mistrust she sees as inevitable. When you assemble your mult-national team of UN alien representatives, she complains about letting them see the ship that was half built by Turians.

 

She's probably a long way from actually being a dangerous racist, but she keeps second guessing any attempt to just get along and not be dicks to each other. The Council are the same yes, and that's annoying for exactly the same reason.

They were literally told bye the Council that the Alliance needed to expand and advance more. So, they did. That's why Humanity expanded to the Terminus system.

 

They were told they could colonise there. Humanity did, at a lot faster rate than any other species. The Alliance managed to build tons of colonies in such a short time, and make them completely viable for self sufficiency. From one perspective, you could say that the Alliance was preparing an army. Well, a larger one. Anyone in there right mind would be wary. Remember, Humanity has only been a member of the Galactic community for a really short period. The other races, seeing this, aren't going to know whether humans can be trustworthy or not.

Actually, the council told them not to enter the Terminus system. But it was the only area Humanity had to go. Like you said, humans are the new kids and as a result all the prime locations( best areas to colonize ) were already taken. So, it was a damned if you do damned if you don't situation.

 

I remember clearly now. Yeah, they did say that, and yes, it was the only place left to go. There was also the ordeal with the Batarians when the humans wanted to colonise a planet in there system. That also didn't look to well on Humans. Basically, there are a lot of reasons why humans are looked at the way they are.
