I don't mind Ashley, myself.  She's been defined by everyone's irrational dislike for her family, which that makes her a bit harsh on the perceived cause of that (i.e. aliens) rather than the actual cause of it (i.e. stupid humans).  I like to think my Shepard (along with his team of cool alien buddies/heroes) got her to change her mind somewhat.  If she'd been able to go on the ME2 mission she'd have seen it even sooner.

Indeed, Ash was awesome. I don't get it all. It's not like the Council Races were a beacon of enlightenment.

think its cause she "challenges" the pc and is staunch in her beliefs but i was able to tone her and garrus down

See, that doesn't make sense. Why shouldn't the PC be challenged? And why must the NPC change their beliefs? I may be bias cuz, I'm a human and all but it seemed the Council wanted humanity to fail.

You realise that the Council only does that to humanity because humans demand more, expand more, advance more than any of the other species ever. They are wary of them.

That makes the Council incompetent and bias, and just because Ashley puts humanity first doesn't make her racist

In what way does it make them incompetent and bias? I would be wary of anyone that has managed to prosper in such a short amount of time.
