I don't hate Ash. I don't even dislike her. I just didn't find her or Kaidan particularly interesting when I could talk to the others about Battlestar Galactica the Migrant Fleet, the genophage, the Asari and Babylon 5 the Citadel.

I did end up watching Battlestar Galactica last night. Laura Roslin, Sharon Valerii and Kara Thrace helped my mood a lot. They usually do.

Sharon is Badass...

and Helo...

Helo is one of my fav char of ALL TIME

She questions my authority constantly! Whenever I talked to her it was like "Are you sure about this Shepard?" Yes I'm sure, just do as I say!

Also, that mistake got her sent to an another team who ended up dying alone on a tower when I blew up the place. So... no redemption for her.

That is not an effective way to command imo. I would never want someone blindly following my orders. Especially if they can see a tactical perspective that i may have missed. That's...naw. If they're that close to me, i have to have some modicum of trust or understanding of their capabilities and they'd have to know me. So i trust they'd only question me if something feels off to them on the decision i'm making...although none of that matters because in the end, the Commander's decision is final. No different than the advisors in DAI actually. (EDI explains this better in ME3.)

it is kind of jarring to see hate for ashley in a thread for the person who is arguably the ashley of da:i....people hate her because she's from a less sophisticated background and thus doesn't always have the most sophisticated views on complex issues especially at first, abrasive, and doesn't kiss authority's ass, lmao. idk. luv that poetry quoting murder machine.

More like Jack. ;)

Except that Jack is the in-universe equivalent of the most powerful mage that humanity has produced, isn't motivated by helping the little people and isn't as funny. ;)

ashley and Sera are not really similar to me...I'd match Sera with Jack loooooonnnnnng before Ashley

Sera would never be military and follow orders

But we aren't necessarily always playing a char for the most effective command, but more to play a specific character or story

Yea, I really didn't like how they pretty much overhauled her look for Mass Effect 3. Her original look fit her character to a T. I hope they don't pull the same thing with Cass in DA: 4.

I've would've been fine if they gave her a ponytail over the bun, but the outfits they gave her outside of her default one were just plan stupid

Ash was changed to fit a more stylistic design than a military one.

Spoiler

So I think it fits her development.

Damn right.

And the fact she can drill you between the eyes at a hundred meters doesn't mean she can't like sensitive stuff!

Well, not a long stretch when Dazzle is talking about orders. :P

Ashley's a damn fine soldier. She's a Marine. Every Marine a Rifleman, first and foremost.

I can not remember a single time she second-guessed my orders - other than Virmire, where she was defiant to the end that Lt. Alenko should be the one to make it out of there alive.

Lieutenant Alenko, equally spotless service record. A Biotic, which is a bane equal to the Williams' family name.

They both knew that could happen when they signed up with the Alliance.

At the end of the day, you never question the Marine next to you - they may be the only one standing between you and your death.

Oorah, Private Dazzle?

Because Ash was there and I was mad at her.

You can save the STG even if they're with the sacrifice...

True. Although, Jack goes military if she survives the Suicide Mission, remember?

I guess with Sera, it'd be similar. She's good enough at following instructions. Orders, they're just the next step of instructions.

She'd have potential, but her motivations would remain to help the people, which would definitely interfere with her duty every now and then, but it is ultimately a good thing.

She's still firmly Alliance when you see her the first time with her new looks.

Plus, I think she had some make-up in the first two. Her being military shows, however. Minimalistic, if even present.
