OT but I wanted to post this as I think it's of interest to a few regulars here (and when did OT stop anyone in this thread anyway.) I just found out about this awesome woman I hadn't heard of before.

Her name is Katherine Johnson and she used to work for NASA and its predecessor, NACA, which is cool on its own, but I loved this bit of her story:
Johnson began working for NACA in 1953. Her work in the agency was a day-to-day progression. She started as one of the women who worked on problems assigned from the engineers in what was then the Guidance and Control Branch. As Johnson worked on the problems, she would ask questions. She didn’t want to just do the work -- she wanted to know the “hows” and the “whys” and then the “why nots.” None of the other women had ever asked questions before, but by asking questions, Johnson began to stand out. She was told that women didn’t participate in the briefings or attend meetings; she asked if there were a law against it. The answer, of course, was no, and so Johnson began to attend briefings. NACA was just beginning its work on space. Space itself may be perceived as a series of plane surfaces, and as Johnson became known for her training in geometry, she began to work with the team more and more. Eventually, she became known as a leader, and the men increasingly relied on her. She remembers quite clearly her experience at the time. “The women did what they were told to do,” she explained. “They didn’t ask questions or take the task any further. I asked questions; I wanted to know why. They got used to me asking questions and being the only woman there.” It was this inquisitive nature that made her a valuable resource to the team and the only woman at the time to ever be pulled from the computing pool to work on other programs. Then in 1962, President John F. Kennedy charged the country to send a man to the moon. Johnson became part of the team, and she began to work on calculating the trajectory for America’s first space trip with Alan Shepherd’s 1961 mission, an early step toward a moon landing. She went on to do the calculations for the first actual moon landing in 1969.
What an amazing pioneering woman. Here's the full article. It's designed to help teachers but it's cool: http://www.nasa.gov/...ml#.VOryffmsV4w

Love the article uncle, I work with a pioneer women she's in her eighties and still works. She's still incredibly sharp, was one of two women in the engineering program at the school she went too.

I think it's so awesome that an African American woman calculated the trajectory for the moon landing. F*ck stereotypes.
Very awesome.
I know for a fact that NASA of all organizations employs a lot of female scientists from all over the globe. One thing I really appreciate about them.

As a relevant note, Carolyn Porco is another woman who has been lead scientist on the Cassini mission in orbit around Saturn for the last 10 years. Most of the beautiful high-res shots we have of Saturn and its moons can be attributed to her fair and square.

i always leave Stroud there except on Neriya's default world state. But because i saw that thing about the wardens still possibly being vunerable to corruption, i exiled them anyway. Haven't played a world state where Alistair is a Warden yet. if they ever fix the patch that broke this game, i may go for that but right now, i'd just be repeating the same world state.
I made a custom world state for each of my inquisitors, because I was curious as to what would change for each choice.

Weekend was too short as usual.
I spent yesterday bouncing back and forth between Total War: Atilla, DA:I, and ME.
On ME I am on Feros and finding killing the Thorian very difficult. I've got Garrus and Tali with me. I think I need to take it slower to preserve health and inch my way between the things neural centers. It's much harder to kill than the Geth. I also found the nerve grenades useless and ended up killing all the colonists! ![]()

Also all the talk of eating had me craving a bacon and blue burger this weekend so this was me on Saturday:

I ran out of nerve grenades and only saved 5 colonists, lol.
The Thorian is difficult, but if you take a shotgun to enough of it's nodules, eventually the green Asari will stop trying to kill you. It's a pain though, for sure.

It's been the third Asari spawn that's killed me each time. I'll equip the shotgun.
With the nerve grenades I'd throw them. They'd explode. No effect on the colonists so I ended up taking them all out.

They have to be close enough to each colonist to work. Can't be in the centre of the room or anything. And if a colonist moves out of range, you're screwed.

You must be tired!! You have to get better sleep Dazzle! I passed out on Friday-Sunday at either 9:30 or 10 pm. Then the cats got into bed with me last night and crawled all over me for the first hour, purring. ![]()

I thought I got them pretty close but hard to tell exactly. Not the best system. Should been able to plant a nerve bomb and then wait for it to take effect. Not digging the Thorians either. I hate Zombie games and films so it's meh.

Ugh, I don't even know. I'm not usually tired, usually I get great sleep. I think I'm just still messed up from weird dreams.
