Wait, are you suggesting Wintery is a Blood Mage?

But... that would mean there is a BLOOD MAGE in the thread! Call the Templars!

Also, we already have one Mage here... Cat may keep saying she's not a Blood Mage, but she definitely has the Gift of Magic!

Sorry, pic's lost on me if it has any special meaning.

It sure looks great, though!

Well, those wizard emojis are certainly suspicious. The only logical answer to this is magic!

No I am not a Blood Mage, but if you like being caught in a web of lightning, I think I can do that.

Tired of wizard emotes? Would you rather I post the pandas on a slide video again? because I can totally do that.

Cat tips

Do not approach a lion, especially one that is feeding or with kittens.

• Stay calm when you come upon a lion. Talk calmly yet firmly to it. Move slowly.

• Stop or back away slowly. Running may stimulate a lion’s instinct to chase and attack. Face the lion and stand upright.

"Hi... lion. I am very firmly standing here and not running away screaming. I back away slowly now. How am I doing?"

"Hi Lion, please ignore or forgive the fact that as I stand here I have, apparently, lost all control of my body's waste disposal system. Also please do overlook the fact of my uncontrollable shaking. Thank you. Please do continue digesting that Baboon."

"Hi Lion, I am not very flavourful and bad for your digestion. Please ignore me as eating me would significantly decrease enjoyment of your afternoon. Excuse me while I back away in terror now. "

"Hi... lion. I am very firmly standing here and not running away screaming. I back away slowly now. How am I doing?"

A couple of years ago a woman made the local news and the paper because she found a Mountain Loin in the kitchen. She was ranting and raving about the entire thing and she did almost get mauled. She had opened her kitchen door, cooked breakfast and after breakfast she took a shower, leaving the kitchen door open the entire time. When she went from the bathroom into the kitchen and saw the mtn lion, she instantly flipped out started screaming and running for another room. Of course this caused the Mountain Loin to instantly go into attack mode. During the interview they showed pictures of her bathroom door. It had claw marks and dents in it. If she was to slowly back away from the kitchen and keep her cool, she wouldn't have been in any real danger.

A few years back I went out to my back porch and came nearly face to face with a brown bear. I was close enough that I could have reach out and touched it's nose. So I calmly walked back into the house and was never really in danger. If I was to freak out, I probably would have been screwed.

The reason why they freak out is, in the case of big cats, they see the fleeing sack of meat as prey and their instinct kicks in. However, most of the time, it is simple survival. They see you waving your arms about and shouting, they think you are going to attack. Unlike some people, animals tend to fight back. Being calm keeps the animal calm.

Closest I've come to danger with animals is 3 times. I did once run but that was from a gator that had crawled into a cousins backyard in Florida. Fortunately I was warned to run zig-zag (cause they cannot change direction very well) and that they came into the backyard from the canal behind her house. I ran into Coyotes a few times in Texas hunting with my Dad but we jumped up and down and they ran off. The scary time was in Philly and I ran into a pack of feral dogs going through the campus garbage. It was 5 dogs with teeth bared growling and backing up at me. I remembered the Coyote experience and pulled myself up to my full height and began yelling at the top of my lungs. It took a few seconds but finally they decided I was not worth it. But I had to sit down afterwards and get my breathing under control. If they'd have wanted to they could have taken me down easily despite my height!

Not always. In general not running is a good idea and backing away slowly is a good idea but this will not, in all cases, prevent a bear or say a mountain lion from deciding you are exactly what it wants.

True, but if you are calm, you will be able to react accordingly. Being frantic doesn't help anyone, especially yourself.

True and it is best to be as calm as you can be. My point was simply this will not, in of itself, prevent an attack or an encounter from going bad. Wild animals are unpredictable.
