It's not weird having an interest in guns and knowing about guns but, at least in British Military, obsession of guns can lead to a person being denied a place in the military. It's something to do with the obsession becoming the need.

Sounds like a brilliant thing to happen!

Me: "I want to sign up, sir!"

Recruitment officer: "Nope."

I don't know... I don't seem to be obsessed with them, outright. Of course, me judging that, you're definitely gonna get such an accurate information!

there is a stigma to the appriciation ill agree

Yeah. I didn't want to include it in my CV. Too big of a chance somebody will tell me to F off based on the fact I like military-related stuff, IMHO.

Soooo I re-opened my OkCupid account because it's obvious that my "boyfriend" in Manitoba who I've been talking to for 6 months is never going to scrape together the money to come to Alberta and I'm starting to get antsy.

Wish me luck...

I've been here. just observing. also there is a wintery mix happening in my state so that is quite depressing as i'm literally stuck in the house.

Did you see my post about Katherine Johnson, Kasumi? Did you know about her? It seems to me that she should be much more well known.

Well I met him on gk2gk and we have so much in common and he's very sweet. I wasn't meeting any calibre guys in Edmonton and was getting burned out so I tried to give it a shot.

It's been a good time, but I thought he'd make it out here for at least a weekend, but we still haven't met in person even once.

Derrr yeah that's no good. I hope the dating site works. But try your buddies too. I met my girlfriend through a friend's introduction on MySpace. I was relieved when she was only 30 miles away...phew!

Don't know how you can all live in cold places.

One of the reasons I only fly home in the summer, unless something bad happens, is that I freeze my ass off at anything below 15 (Celsius).

Wait, talking Aussie summer, though, right?

The stuff that happens down there below the equator when stuff's all cold and snowy up here, where everything isn't upside down?

I have been half tempted to try online dating sites. I don't know how well it would work out, but I might give it a shot. I'm just really leery because so many of them seem to be a haven for scammers and I just don't know if I even want to try dating again. Simply because it didn't turn out so great last time I tried.

I honestly can't tell what you are trying to say here. I was merely saying, those deemed to be obsessive of firearms, can be considered dangerous. Those that are considered dangerous aren't allowed to join the army. I didn't say you were obsessive. I didn't say there was anything wrong with being interested in guns.

Palm trees are everywhere. The nearest beach is like 25 miles away

Oh, no, you didn't.

It was me who said it. Well, I don't think I am, but, you know.

Someone else sees me, they probably say "Yup, obsessed."

It's kind of nice to have an instant snapshot of someone. I know I'm not going to date someone who smokes, and I never want kids, so it's nice to meet up with someone who has similar goals.

You just watch out for red flags, and don't get caught in a loop of talknig for ages. A few messages, and then meet for coffee or drinks.

Brisbane is around the mid 20s all year round, so no snow.

The occasional cyclone, yes but not snow.

Right...

That's actually pretty good. If half the country didn't want to kill me, I'd actually consider moving there...

When I first moved here, I would jump every time I saw a snake or spider.
You get used to it pretty quickly.

Still, you're more likely to die in a car crash than from a snake.

I don't tend to find good matches when I'm out and about.

I like that online gives a snapshot of the person. I already know I'll never date a smoker, so this way I don't have to wait until the guy pulls out his lighter at the bar.
