And dog carry certain germs in their gums which can cause similar symptons as the flesh eating backteria, it is extremely rare though to get infected. Despite that I don´t mind getting kissed by our chihuahuas.  :P

D- did I kill the thread...?

Going back to the earlier discussion about Alien and the Alien sequel. Apparently, Neil Blomkamp - director of District 9 - is taking the helm on this movie and that he is ignoring Aliens 3 and 4 because they are hated.

http://uk.complex.co...nore-three-four

Oh yeah thats a solid Move...

Ignore 3 and 4 because Some hate them . So to fix that...Ignore 3 and 4 and make those who like them hate ya...

Genius Plan! ONWARD!

Hated by the masses. If it was a case of aged by a few then I would think it ridiculous. Because 3 and 4 did so bad both at the box office and in peoples opinions, I think this is a bold but good move.

Box office is really dependant on what the critics say. Critics mostly talk out of their arses.

Don't you mean independent then?

If what critics say affects the box office: it's dependent.

If what the critics say makes no difference: it's independent.

I would think the latter. Transformers 3 was murdered by critics and made money like mad.

Aliens 3 made money on the name alone however sometimes box offfice + critics don't equal the long term view of the film. I think Star Wars I made money despite being savaged by the critics. However it is these days looked upon with loathing by fans of the series and the sign that George Lucas should never make any more films.

Is it true he stole the ideas ? That he is...a...hack ?

Have to agree with Cat. If box office were dependent on the critics, arthouse films would be earning hundreds of millions and Pirates of the Caribbean would barely see the inside of a cinema.

Well, the movie did have a well crafted and massive marketing campaign to drowned out all the negative reviews. Even if the movie was completely unwatchable that marketing campaign would have ensured it turned a profit.

Who Lucas? Never heard that he stole the idea. I mean the film was pretty much the standard fantasy trope of unforseen hero emerging to win despite odds against goliath sized enemy. It wasn't an innovative idea in that sense.

Someone in Swtor..told me he stole the idea from someone else . That he has actually no talent at writing and mostly is a bully..who either doesnt pay his writers or fire them when things doesnt please him .

Star Wars was based on a combination of thirties serials like Flash Gordon and Buck Rogers and Japanese films by the likes of Kurosawa. Lucas did what most creatives do: Got inspired by lots of stuff and made something new.

There is a story I once heard that Harrison Ford, upon reading the script, remarked "They're going to let you film sh*t like this?"

I might ask my brother's fiancee as she is a rabid fan of the series. I love the early films but not enough to study the lore of their making enough to have the answer to what you ask.

I think by the time he made the prequels he had turned into someone who believed his own hype and wouldn't listen to criticism. He needed people to stand up to him and tell him when his ideas needed work. I'm not sure that's the case for the original trilogy though.

While I do not dislike Lucas and I do think that Star Wars has some great ideas, I'd be lying if I didn't say a lot of the stuff in the expanded universe was 100 times better than his original work for sure. I wouldn't be a Star Wars fan if it was not for the expanded universe. That's for sure.
