minor quest take prio over story quests imoNo I don't think it was a case of BioWare not handling nuance. I think the problems lie more on the player's end. To the point: Since this game has come out players have nitpicked all the characters so that we have love em' or hate em' threads all over the place. Some chars have been more problematic than others i.e. Bull's sex practices and treatment of lovers, Viv's snootiness and lack of empathy (or seeming), Blackwall's perfidy and how to respond to it, Sera's dislike of the Dalish and bullheadedness.
People have agonized over all of the above and to a certain extent it's fair and if they weren't great characters we would not do this, right? That's my point. BioWare got it right. They did a fantastic job creating alive and vivid characters who amaze us, are adorable, and also at times a little despicable which is a lot how people are in RL.
With Sera you'll have to headcanon some things unfortunately. My elf that romanced her told her Mythal was bullshit just to soothe her cause she is clearly unnerved by the experience. I then headcanoned that my elf admitted or confided the lie to Dorian.
Anyway good morning! I played a lot of Mass Effect yesterday. At the point where the dramatic encounter with Benezia occurs. I need advice now: Do I push on to find the MU relay or do I go back and finish off some of the minor quests I've blown off? Do I have the time to do that?

After considering what you've said on the matter before, I find that I can't agree on that. I'm with Eirene when she says that we shouldn't expect that all love interests will be able to mesh with all possible inquisitors. That's just unrealistic. It's theoretically possible to have an atheistic pro-mage-freedom mage who wants to entirely abolish the chantry romance Cassandra, but that would seem very silly to me. I do agree that the post-Mythal flashpoint could've been handled better, but I don't think that Sera should've been dropped as a romance.
The problem comes from the fact that... well, for one thing, there are literally no female love interests who work with the character type you mentioned, at least not particularly well. Part of the problem, I'm sure, comes from the fact that the romances were badly skewed in favor of straight women. However, another problem is in them designing the one lesbian option to be a plot-unimportant controversy magnet who could be dropped from the party at any time with no ill effect.

In ME1, there is no time limit on getting stuff done. You can go and do all the side quests you want. In fact I encourage you so to do. Just remember that when you hit Ilos, you're in the endgame and there's no going back, so do all you want to before then.

All she needs is tolerance.
I don't think that Bioware did do it right, actually. I think the reason we've had to agonize over this is because they halfassed the character interactions in this game, and it's fairly disgusting. I hate relying on headcanon and I hate Bioware for forcing it to happen here.
Well I disagree. BioWare gave us interesting characters who aren't all nicey-nice and pleasant. That's an interesting game to me. They also cannot write out everything. Your imagination is going to have to cover other aspects. I imagine conversations all the time and I'd probably still be doing that even if BioWare had written another 800,000 lines of dialogue.
Plus I agree with what Uncle wrote above: You cannot expect each character to react the same to each Inquisitor you RP (Or did Eirene write that? If so then kudos to Eirene). It's RP. Don't you want them to have different reactions or ways of relating and don't you want some of that to be at least negative? Isn't that more interesting from a RP perspective?

See I knew that was endgame. Damn. I am not ready. I need to level up more and there is all sorts of stuff I still cannot decrypt yet. Thanks Uncle! I'll hit all the other stuff first then!

I agree that having to rely on head canon is a ridiculous concept.
Also, she might not get a sense of tolerance. It's one of the things I like about her. She doesn't tolerate sh*t and she doesn't need to so I wouldn't expect her to gain a moral understanding.

Not particularly? I mean, I was friends with everyone in Origins and I liked that. Then I was friends with everyone again in Awakening and I enjoyed that too. In 2... well, I clashed with Isabela and Fenris some, but never in a particularly harsh way; we still all stuck together and valued each other.

She (Sera) only seems to be a problem if you romance her as an elf. I don't hear anyone complaining about romancing her as a human female or qunari one. So I might buy the first part of your argument as being problematic for you but I bolded the part I just flat out disagree with.

Some (I should stress not many, before you get your hopes up too high) people from side-quests in ME1 do turn up again in for little cameos in ME2 and 3, but only if you did those quests, so it can be good to do them. Also, the more money you have at the end on ME1, the bigger is the bonus you get to your starting money in ME2, so that's another reason to scan around and land on planets.

I mostly meant that straight women had five options, more than anyone else.
Maybe its a good thing that the cast clashes with you
Why's that? I think it sucks, personally.

Crimson!! How's it going? I know I'm definitely going to romance Sera with an elf quizzy (planning on her looking like Eva Green) but I had to go Qunari for my second playthrough, is my SPEW membership still good?
Sup, long time no see ;D
Welp I'm burnt out on the SP so I've moved on to other games. Qunari before elf, didn't even finish my Qun run looools, well I suppose I can let that one slide, never got back to my ultimate elf playthrough either. So I can't wag my finger at you.

I don't think it does suck. The real world has people that you find yourself around who you don't like, who you don't get along with, who you disagree with. Why should a game based on lots of different characters be any different?

Exactly. If it was any other way, I'd feel like I was surrounded by yes men and that would drive me up the wall and make the characters seem a lot less real.

imo i found being friends with everyone to be great yeah but sometimes it gets stale little conflict and sometimes i felt like a yes man. Now come da2 i had 2 rivalry paths just cause the felt more "real". Take merrill for example rival her it makes for a strained relationship at first then the romance came it was a explosive burst of feelings that turned out pretty epic imoI mostly meant that straight women had five options, more than anyone else.

finally we have DAI everybody has their beliefs like normal... but they fight for them almost to a fault at times to me it gives them weight, crediblity, and most of all a soul. Personally ive been playing dalish after my canon humi and i want more conflicts, more challenges etc. The RP potential is limitless

I despised Wynne. Had a disagreeable relationship with Sten. Zevran got on my nerves. Yet I wouldn't want those characters to change.

If it was not for Morrigan, Sten and Shale it would have. I didn't like aspects of their character and there where arguments for sure. But, they ended up being my favorite characters because of that.

Hey, Crim! What's happening?
Just finished The Wolf Among Us and most get back to finishing Alien Isolation. I need to buy a new game this week also, The Evil Within looks interesting. Heard Destiny was a letdown from pals sooooo I'm not gonna pick it up now.
