I think it could've worked either way. I mostly just wish she was bi for gamey reasons. She deserved more exposure.. which is part of Liara's success (not to take away from people actually liking Liara too though).

I like Jack as she is. Not because she meets the "straight male/straight female" thing which isn't something I care much for, but because the romance works. It works as it is. If she was available to females, would it be the same? Probably not.

Maybe it would change some things about the character, I don't know.
I'm not complaining, personally. I loved that game. Like I said, I just wish she had been more popular. Maybe then, she would have been in ME3 more. Instead of the cameo I got.

Yeah, I do wish she got a little more than a cameo. Personally, I wanted all the previous companions to have more of an impact to the overall story. They get their little mission. A few catch-ups on the Citadel and then... nothing. (Exception if you have the Citadel DLC)

Yeah, that was a bummer all around. It was kind of a subtle message that those companions meant nothing to overall themes in the game or were anchors for Shepard's well being.
It doesn't say that, of course, but that's how it comes off. I didn't even care about the ending controversy. It was already a bad game for me for this.

This seems sort of like asking "would you find it acceptable to control a person with your keyboard and constantly expose them to lethal danger with no consent?" However, I don't consider it changing, I consider it altering the mechanics to better match part of her character.

You find it acceptable to change a character to better suit your own selfish desire. If you were attracted to someone of your sex, and you knew that they had "experiences" with people from the same sex, but aren't attracted to them; if you could, would you change them? That's what you are doing with the character, so what's a human being?
Characters are written a certain way, with sexual orientation included. You change a major aspect of who a person is, you change that person.

I don't like seeing characters change for the player's whims either.. Kind of the objection I have to any mods that change Dorian, Cass, Sera, etc..
But I figured it worked here, since there's some precedent or subtle precedent for Jack.

But then there is also some precedent for Dorian, seeing as that is what is expected of him. But then, he was also going to have his mind manipulated so that he would do it willingly which, as I recall, was a big no no by most of the player base.

Bi-curious absolutely exists, whatever term you want to give it. There is nothing wrong with experimentation, luckily I had willing and understanding friends, but it's how I found out that I think women are gorgeous creatures who I'm more than happy to kiss and fondle, but ultimately I have no desire to sleep with.

I'm sorry but, yes it does. Even if you use sex for a coping mechanism you are going to look for things that do it for you( things you find attractive or turn you on ). No one just decides hey, I'm sad, depressed, suicidal I'm going to use sex as a coping mechanism and sleep with a gender, or person that I don't find attractive or sexually appealing.
But she doesn't flat out say she is bisexual. She says that she has "spent time" with a couple. Well, for one, it doesn't state their gender - they could have been two dudes for all we know. Even if one of those two were a women, that doesn't mean she is attracted to women. For a person who uses sex as a tool, attraction and orientation don't come into it.
