I only wish she had made an appearance in this image, I would have loved to have seen her reaction...
she's there, she just goosed the scholar, which is the real reason she looks shocked

I have a high tolerance for "bratty" behavior (I'm far more enraged at authority figures who misuse their power), so I'm not concerned with Sera thus far. And still think she's my most likely LI.
I usually have a tolerance for that kind of behavior from companions like Morrigan, but if Sera's just a flat-out, brash brat, hopefully my Inquisitor can knock her down a few pegs. She don't take no **** from no elves.
sounds to me like pure awesomeness
No, It sounds like something that needs to die in fire.

There's no surer endorsement for a given companion's high quality.
And what are we basing all of this off of?
For all we know she could be a mage hating, templar skinning, lunatic who revels in the blood of her enemies

We already have a qunari.

we have a Tal-Vasoth, for all we know he could be quite civil with a penchant for tea sets and purple sashes

Yes, that was a joke.

anything we say about the companions right now is based off of
1. Past tropes
2. Wild speculation
3. Too much time

Things may have changed considerably since the leaked survey. The tavern artwork does suggest that she won't be stoic, but I think we'll get more layers to her than merely being the 'brat'. Merrill and Isabela both had more to their characters than the introverted scholar trying to help her people and the pirate who was dealing with her own demons and trying to stay alive.
I'm also curious how Sera might react to the elven Inquisitor and Solas, given how they seem to be the only two elven characters she will regularly interact with in this moiety crew. I suppose Solas' own heritage and status (whether he turns out to be one of the Dalish, an autonomous Circle mage, or a hedge witch) may be a factor as well in Sera's perceptions of him.

I'm almost certain Solas isn't a Dalish. He seems way too old to be a child, so his lack of vallaslin is very telling.
Anyway, I have no idea about Solas' personality, but from the vague concept art clues regarding Sera... well, I think there might be an amusing dynamic going on if my Inquisitor is the intense/driven type, which seems fairly probable. I definitely think that one of the major hooks into romancing Sera she might have is that she could make her laugh.
I also have a certain suspicion that you'd prefer Sera as well, out of everyone we've seen so far.

Opposites attract, I take it? A serious protagonist with a jubilant rogue?

You would be correct. If I end up having my elven protagonist engage in a romance, Sera would be a possibility, if some the speculation and story bits in this thread prove close to accurate. I really don't see pro-Chantry Cassandra or pro-Chantry controlled Circle Vivienne as viable options for my Dalish Inquisitor, and I know far too little about the Dwarven and Vashoth background options to make any genuine assessment of how I'll handle them at this point in time.

Something like that. Of course, this might lead to Single Rogue Syndrome, a phenomenon I experienced in DAO where, because I romanced a rogue, I always took her with me and never used the other one ever. Now, this wasn't so much of a problem in DAO because I didn't like Zevran to begin with, but I do like Varric. In DA2, I rotated through both Varric and Isabela (and occasionally Sebastian), but I never like taking my LI out of the party because I might miss something they have to say, which might mean that I'd wind up hardly ever using Varric. Unless I sometimes play as the only mage in my party, something I've hardly ever done before (and never at all in DA2 except for the very beginning of the game before getting Merrill).

I will say that my weird feeling that Vivienne would be my LI has greatly receded since we learned more about her.
You could just play with fewer mages. DA2 is a bit more balanced in this regard than DA:O.
I could, but I don't want to. I enjoy mages more than any other class.

I like rain also, but I don't like having to cross campus a few times in it after my ass of a roommate has taken my umbrella

Varric will likely be available in the beginning as a mandatory companion, and Sera might be optional later on. You should be able to have have time with Varric before you meet Sera.
Sera is likely optional, and her network of rogues may be an asset. If you're opposed to Vivienne, Solas may work as another mage companion. Solas, Sera, and Varric, maybe?
Eh, I have a feeling a warrior will be necessary. Those I should be able to rotate through without a problem, and maybe Varric will be on the same list.
Bioware confirmed at the PAX Prime panels that they'll be going back to allowing rogues to use multiple types of weapons, as in Origins. In DA2, Sebastian could only shoot, Isabela could only hop about with her two blades, and Varric could only use Bianca.
So if you want her to specialize in any roguish fighting style, you should be able to. They didn't mention whether this applied to Varric though... with his beloved crossbow.

I'm more curious if that applies to Warriors the same way. Like will we have Warrior archers again?
the real question is whether I will be able to whoop ass with an arcane warrior once again
