I'm really enjoying the new Thor and I don't see why so many people are up in arms about it. Anyone who is worthy of Thor's power can pick up Mjölnir and gain the powers of Thor. Also, through out the years Odin has granted powers like Thor's to several characters permanently. So, why is the fact that this Thor is female such a big deal?

Plus Marvel and DC have both created so many universes an changed the chars countless times why not a woman? That's the great thing about these series is you can pretty much re-invent them over and over.

Welp, i can already hear the cries of some straight men yelling "feminist agenda!!!111"

Lmao this comic tho.

I don't necessarily have a problem with it, but the dialogue is written so weirdly... Is this a real strip from the actual comic?

But... what happened to the dude Thor? That's what confuses me about altering storylines this way. Why can't they just come up with a really cool female superhero instead of changing the gender of an already created hero?

Same reason that people get up in arms about the possibility of a female/black Doctor. They are either idiots or outright misogynists/racists.

Yes. It's clearly poking fun at the type of idiotic comments that internet trolls made after the announcement of female Thor.

Why is it an either/or thing?

Oh. Ohhhh. Because I thought Thor's name was actually Thor. I was having issues reconciling what happened to the dude and why they stole his name for the new chick.

Because I actually thought Thor's name was Thor and that they stripped him of his identity and I was a confused Dazzle?

He's passed the torch to her I believe and has lost his arm and ability to wield the hammer. They'll probably bring him back at some point. They're artists and like all artists they're ripping sh*t up, tearing it down, re-working it. Fun stuff. :)

So the sudden change in language doesn't grate on you? She goes from saying "thou" to calling him a creep...

It is his name, which is why I found the whole thing weird too

Wait! Are the comics out now?

Yep, it started last year in October. The series is called Thor and each issue is numbered so it's easy to find of you search for Thor #1 and go from there.

Comics just straight up confuse me. I like the movies because there's a little more continuity and I can follow it easier.

Thor is one of those weird things where it's a name and a title. Since a worthy being inherits the powers of Thor, they are typically given the title of Thor as a sign of respect.

Oh that bit. That sort of thing used to annoy me way more that it does now, but it happens so often that people make half-arsed attempts at that sort of dialogue that I don't really let it bother me any more.

They should've just went the Beta Ray Bill route and gave her a new name and say she wields the power of Thor

Yea, that would have avoided a lot of confusion. But, it's comics we are talking about so confusion is the name of the game.

You still call him Thor since his name is Thor Odinson

That's why I mostly avoid comics, except for Injustice and the Mortal Kombat X comic
