hey ROEN line of clothes are in top fashion still so cant be D-bang XD and we all wanted to save her... party dynamic was off after that... least her and zack are happy againThe FF7 crew didn't look like D-bags. It was modern, but it didn't go overboard like FF13-34 or FF15.
I just want to save Aeris!!! :/
from what we've seen maybe but its FF there always female party members... i just want another wakka and barrett character lolSo FF15 is all guys? Weird.

I'm with 100% with you about the mundane, SM. I love fantasy/science fiction, but I love it because I love seeing stories about people in them, not esoteric stuff...and that stuff only interests me so much as what does it mean for everyday people? It's a weird distinction, I guess, but when characters in dragon age talk about say, the Fade, it's more interesting to me to see what that means to them, not "what the Fade means."
Yeah, you probably summed it up better quickly than I did with those above posts.

But the advancement of technology means that what it is to be an everyday person might change dramatically. I think that the implications about what humanity and intelligence even constitute are fascinating. I don't see these ideas as esoteric at all. I see them as key to the future of humanity.I'm with 100% with you about the mundane, SM. Don't get me wrong, I still want stories with strong characters with motivations and interactions, but what happens if those characters have perfect recall of their lives? What happens if they live for hundreds of years? What happens if there are augmented and "natural" humans living together? I love all these ideas.

To be fair, some stories like this can still delve into very human issues.
You'll laugh, but even Robocop addressed some down to earth stuff (about his old identity, and family connections). lol

Those old sequels sucked even worse though.
But yeah, the original was decent.

I patched, but don't even want to play. One, because I'm in a b*tchy mood about DAI. Two, the keep is broken for me. Haven't even been able to change a world state for weeks.

I'm almost concerned it might be permanent.. some others have reported the issue and think it's profile related. Because others in their household can load the Keep on their own profile. But some of us are screwed. It doesn't help that no one is communicating on feedback or these forums.

I don't know if you missed the context for this conversation, but it was about the synthesis ending in ME3
. Which is not like what you're saying at all, so I have no argument with your post because I agree with it? I may find another points of those narratives more interesting than you....for example, in narratives with "augmented vs natural" humans living together, I don't really care so much about "what is human/what is not", so much as, how does the distinction between those two define and drive the characters? How do they see human/not human? What informs that? What does that mean for them? How do they navigate that?
I read a book once about people who lived really long lives and they were incredibly f*cked up in the head and did all kinds of awful, but sympathetic things and I loooved it. It was grounded in human psychology and then added to and blown up by speculative fiction tropes and questions about science and mortality. It wasn't divorced of all human context, an esoteric "what if~~~deep thoughts~~~" slapped on to some jargon..... Which is what I see the synthesis ending, and a large portion of science fiction that I dislike as.

Dues Ex and Dues Ex: Human Revolution deal with the subject very well. If you have not played them, I highly suggest you do so. Both deal with Transhumanism with Dues Ex: Human Revolution focusing on it more.

They kind of did.. until the endings just morphed into one setting.
More TES level writing. Bioware is not the only one falling prey to it.
