human revolution was my favorite game of that year... modded the hell out of me

Hehee.. didn't DA2 come out around the same time? I think I liked it more.

I wonder how alone I am in that. :(

They kind of did.. until the endings just morphed into one setting.

More TES level writing. Bioware is not the only one falling prey to it.

Well, bad video game endings seem to be a established trend. lol

Well.. I love to hate Anders.. Heh. I mean, he's well done, but don't like him as a person.

I do like Anders as a person. I might even have one of my Hawkes romance him to keep him psychologically stable (also because he has the only excuse for not appearing in DA2 that really makes sense).

I romanced him... but also killed him. Eeek.

I don't know if he can ever truly be stable. I think it's supposed to be tragic. Like severe mental illness are, for the victim, for loved ones..

i just love characters with conviction(still has my bias overall) but yeah he's just awsome

if friend him he's stable, merrill had a passable excuse as did izzy

I don't mind his conviction per se. it's justice that screws things up.. He doesn't understand the world, and goes about everything in a counterproductive way. And Anders has lost himself to it.

Tragedy is, to me, almost always crap. So I explain away everything tragic that I can.

What was Isabela's? And Merrill... was disappointing, honestly.

That's understandable. It's not a fun subject.

But Hepler did say she was inspired by mental illness in writing him. Which is meant to be tragic.

Mrs helper said she based his moods off people that have bipolar disorder(extreme depiction to be fair)

Mental illness isn't an automatic tragedy. It's a difficulty, but it's completely possible to work around it/cure it.

Bah. I couldn't abide a relationship like Isabela's apparent one. As for Merrill... I know the work she's doing is important, but really, she and my Hawke belong together.

I said severe though.

Tbh, I suffer myself. But I'm not Bi-Polar, so I won't get into that in particular. And I'm lucky to not have much tragedy myself.

Just saying... I don't want to seem disrespectful.

I love DA2 a lot. I also love Anders but I get kind of angry when I think about what she said about bipolar disorder and his romance (2 close to home), so I try to ignore that...which is easy to do because in the text he is literally possessed/body sharing, so it's...not...a good...lskjf I'll stop, lmao. But yeah, DA2 is great. I mean it's a mess but it's so ambitious and personal and different, and eternal "bah" at how rushed it was.

I saw the experience of mental illness more from Hawke's perspective. The helplessness as a friend. You can't do much to help, and in a way, he wants to die himself. Not just kill other people.

I don't think it was really meant to represent bi-polar disorder. I mean, not in any literal sense. Anders doesn't have any manic episodes.

his codex if you rival him say he swings between depressive melaoncoly and manic determination. So he may have episodes but the arent showcased. The only time i see his manic days is when i enable him

Ah.. totally missed that. I stand corrected then.

I still don't think he's a good representative of it. Bi-Polar isn't an identity crisis. But I think the tragic parts are good.
