Secondly, the whole independent evolutionary angle is important to the whole story. Everyone needs to get away from this crutch. It's what's been screwing the galaxy cycle after cycle. To me, to theme of Mass Effect is for life to develop on it's own terms.

I actually very rarely do that. It's gotta be a serious mistake for me to reload.

 

The only time I've done it this game is Legion's Mission because I didn't understand what they were telling me and confused the paragon option for the renegade.

All Geth, including those at that base, are part of the greater consensus, which is like the Geth's mind. All Geth have memories which are shared instantly with all other Geth. Killing those at the base means you wipe out part of a persons mind, effectively. You wipe their memories, their experience, their "light." I think killing half a person is worse than making them believe something else. At least in the context of the Geth.

 

However, they are both evils so really, you should pick what you believe to be the lesser of the two.
