I just like April in general. 3 public holidays in one month ftw.
You sound like someone who works a lot...
My life is a... boring vacation. For the most part.

I don't know if that's American or even an official holiday. It's just a way to screw with people every year.
What do you do?
Manual labor. Outside, so exposed to the elements. It'd be fine if they let me wear my M65 jacket, instead of lending me one of theirs. Still trust my M65 more than anything to keep me safe from the elements.
Also, the boredom. The job is about giving people the stuff they bought, when they come with a receipt. I can sit for an hour and nobody comes, and then three people inside ten minutes.
I'd have taken a person every ten minutes (not on average, gosh, that'd mean there can be forty in an hour, and nobody the rest of the shift) to feel like I'm there for a good reason... and to have the boredom go away. Especially since servicing one takes no more than a minute, most times.

I had to travel on a recycling collection truck. Basically, trash collection except you have to sort the trash... I'd say you have it easy my friend. ![]()

We have people wearing caps, bandanas and t-shirts with the flag on em. So, yes idiots aplenty lol. Maybe I should start a trend with t-shirts quoting the Constitution and Bill of Rights. But, I'd probably be labeled a domestic terrorist.Meh, could be worse...unless you get idiots wearing the flag as a cape as well.
I'm generally of the opinion that those who actively seek power are among the worst at wielding it. (See most politicians and players of The Game.) I quite like the idea of someone who gains power because luck has made them the only one who can realistically fix a situation. That's the difference with us, I guess. I don't want my turn. It just makes me sad for the setting.. and roleplaying wise.. it's people.
I could buy into it a little more if the setup was better, but the randomness just makes me focus on the negatives even more. You don't have be anything specifically to be the Inquisitor. So not only is the world being dictated to.. it's being dictated to by a sh*tty character. Making it even more of a crime.
Oh right that's a Murrican holiday isn't it?
April 1st is only a Holiday to anyone we can trick into believing it.

Aren't all holidays like that?

Luck makes us all here.. but it's so easy to indulge ourselves once we have that power. Which I don't want to do.
Actually, you can't even avoid embracing it somewhat. But I try my best to make it a shared experience with the others. Or at least, RP it that way.
I hope I can do what the original Inquisition did and just hang in the towel. We restored order. Job done.

To add to this: most people who seek power want it in order to benefit themselves. They want the money and status that comes with it, but they do little to contribute to society as a whole.
That's why I like the show 'Dirty Jobs' so much. It gives the spotlight to people who do very necessary but thankless work.
You want greatness? Check this guy out: Norman Borlaug.
A subtle hint...

Sera is in the picture so it's on topic! Yay!

Are those the bones of all those who thought they could break the boundaries of their fantastical existence?

I suppose, though having official days off gives them some level of legitimacy (and possibly holiday pay).

Here's the thing: I know that DA2 is your favourite of the series, but there was a lot of criticism that whatever Hawke did, the outcome was basically the same. People didn't like that perceived lack of agency and complained about it loudly. You couldn't save your mum, you couldn't stop Orsino from going mad, etc. I actually found Hawke's tale refreshing, but given the strident nature of the criticism levelled at it, it was clear that the Inquisitor's story was going to be more of a traditional Hero's journey, where the Inquisitor's actions have a real effect on the world. I don't actually mind either approach. Story-wise I enjoyed all three games (unlike Alexia.) I'm still very interested to see where they take Thedas next.
