I am too.. it's just.. probably my biggest beef is how reactionary they've been. Not their talent. It's my fellow fans that cause things. It began with canceling DA2's expansion.

Maybe it's better to have a new IP that no one demands things from. And where marketers don't meddle in as much.

meddlers alway come but sometimes its for the best

Well, I said elsehwere that I'd pay extra for a game that the writers want. No one else.

I just want to see what that looks like. I haven't lost faith in them.

I don't envy developers. It's a tight-rope they must walk. You want to pay attention to what works for your fans. At the same time some of these fans will be bananas so you have to learn what to tune out and what to tune in. The best thing for BioWare is to just follow their own vision and only take on what absolutely fits with that.

gaider left DA earliar this week and patrick weekes is now in command as lead writer

You know, considering the depth of the Solas scenes we got... I think I'm okay with this.

(Or maybe I'm just a fan girl and Gaider rubbed me the wrong way.) I wish him all the best though.

we can hope

Though another Kotor seems less likely than another Baldur's Gate. Simply because Lucas Film more or less made everything in the Expanded Universe non-cannon.

And not try to be any other game on the market. Don't try to be like Skyrim, just focus on what BioWare is known for. Amazing character interactions, customizability, and incredible stories.

Same here. I don't get the negativity. I've certainly got my money's worth!

I don't mid people stating their views; BioWare far from being beyond criticism. But as far as triple-A developers go, there's no one to touch them in terms of creating great characters and social inclusion.

It's ok to be influenced. I saw the influence of Skyrim in this current game. It's there. But what I liked better than Skyrim was BioWare's strength in characters. BioWare writes better characters than Bethesda does.

At least right now.

That's all still in tact too. Not one of my complaints. That's still the best thing about this game.

My own character isn't as cool as the companions though.

Bethesda writes crap characters, and crappier stories.

Their environments on the other hand.. are kind of a great character in itself.

edit: They have great lore too. But not the stories themselves.

I think there's a difference in influence and going way out of your comfort zone to try and use another concept though.

I mean, this happens all the time in fashion. A geeky girl in jeans and sneakers sees this amazing ensemble in a magazine, and instead of incorporating one awesome piece into her wardrobe, she shows up the next day in the exact outfit and stumbles everywhere feeling totally uncomfortable and miserable because the look isn't her at all and she doesn't have a clue how heels work.

You build up to the new look, one little increment at a time. (Sorry, fashionista Dazzle, hopefully the style analogy is understandable.)

As I say it's fine to make your feelings known. None of their games are anything close to flawless. I just don't want to lose sight of the fact that in terms of things that really matter to me, they still set the gold standard for a big developer.

Well, I'm actually agreeing with you. I like every companion... except Bull. But someone said something about Bull recently that has me rethinking.

I'm not really referring to you specifically, more to Nub's original comment about not getting all the negativity.

That's how I feel. Criticism is always helpful as feedback to developers. Emotional meltdowns and demands are less helpful. I am new to this developer but I've played all three DA games and 1 and 1 1/2 of the ME and so far I see a pretty decent developer. Not perfect but then who is?

Really going to laugh loudly though when CD Projekt (the new darlings of everybody) release the failure they are destined to make at some point and the wheels come off their accolade train.

Well, I was annoyed that he was so comfortably human and approachable.. But then someone told me that just him trying to project that image. That it's something he kind of wants to be.

This suddenly made him a little more endearing. I feel more sorry for him.

That whole scene with the Chargers and Bull's reaction to it is heartbreaking. I misted up during that experience. I related to Bull more after that scene.

Exactly. He's lived away from the Qun, trying to fit in Thedas for how long? (But I'm just biased, lol.)

I'll miss Gaider thou, found his snark amusing at times and I enjoyed most of the characters he wrote for DA.

There have been a couple of exceptions. Sheogorath in Oblivion and Serana in Skyrim come to mind.

Not darlings of me. I got about halfway through the first Witcher game and haven't picked it up again...

Also: Sex cards. *Facepalm*

Whenever I've seen him interact with fans I've always been a little uncomfortable by how churlish he can be. Maybe he's lovely in person and that's just his online persona.

I played a bit of the second and gave it up as it bored me. I am curious about the third one but I'll wait for reviews and youtube videos. Plus...

The sex was very cheeeeeeeese.
