how did people progress beyond the "meh" reaction of trying to romance Sera as an elf? I want to try this but i keep thinking of that lukewarm reception like...is that even worth it? It's why i never put Neriya through that.

He tells you he witnessed the battle at the beginning of DAO. That's the first reference we have for his being aware and awake for modern events.

Does he? I thought he just spoke to the spirits of those who witnessed it...

Didn't he tell you he witnessed it in the fade though?

He could be lying...I mean..if he saw it himself....He really cant tell ya that now..can he ?

Does that mean that he was never awake before?

I assumed he'd been asleep from what he tells Flemeth but maybe I took that literally. Anyway the first indication we have of his living presence is the battle that opens DAO. I am not as steeped in lore as some here. What was Dread Wolf doing for all those centuries between locking away the gods and the present events?

Those murales are nice..I think he got the best spot in the whole skyhold...beside ya own quarters .

They are pretty but I prefer Sera's little apartment out of all of them. Sooo cozy!

Yeah, he just detected the spirits who witnessed it. That's why he gets two different versions. One version makes the HoF and Alistair look noble. The other he detects spirits that give Loghain a favorable impression.

I don't recall him saying anything about spirits. I recall him saying he observed it.

Well... Tressa fancied her, and she didn't say no...

I agree. I think they are the same gods. Doesn't he awake after the blights though? He awakes to find humanity transcendent and his gift to Corypheus could be seen as his attempt to right a mistake he felt he made?

But... If the old elven gods and the old Tevinter gods are one and the same, how does that work out in the fall of Arlathan? So we have the Elven empire and its gods. The empire falls, Tevinter rises. Tevinter adopts the Elven gods as their own? Or Tevinter is manipulated by the Old gods like the Elves were?

Could it be that the Fade is to the Dread Wolf what the Well of Sorrows is to Mythal? Remember the orb is used to open the Fade, and Abelas remarks on the Inquisition carrying 'the mark of magic'. If so, could it be that the Dread Wolf and Mythal fought the other gods and the Elven empire was destroyed as a result?

Then the Old gods found new slaves in Tevinter and Dumat sent the magisters to the Fade in an effort to get back at the Dread Wolf? Then why was the Blight unleashed? Were there more red lyrium idols? One was hidden underground, one in the Fade (the sky) and... one underwater?

So many questions. And no answers.

He talks about having heard about the battle from both sides - Loghain's men and the abandoned wardens.

Maybe these Old gods..did what the old Jedi Order did and split in two factions....ones were good and the others were bad .

I don't know. He just says one version makes Loghain a mad villain. While other impressions make Loghain a concerned General.

But he wasn't there. He says "It is the Fade. They are all true."

I have no idea myself. I have the same questions. I like the theory that it is the same gods i.e. the elven and the Tevinter ones however I am not certain. It is clear Mythal and Dread Wolf have a history and it was also clear to me that Mythal's apparent

Spoiler
at the game's end may not be what it appears to be given what we know of the well. I guess we have to wait for more of this to unfold.

Although..if we are talking Gods..and especially these Old Gods who have no definitions like in D&D Deity system.....they may just be all Bad . So then it come down to siding with the Lesser evil.....

Ok you're probably right. So what's he been doing for centuries? Just wandering the fade?

Haha! No it;s just that Loghain's soldiers saw the battle from his perspective, and saw him as a leader doing the right thing by his men, just like Threnn. The Wardens obviously took a different view at being abandoned.
