ok so it's 6:30 AM and i have once again have not slept yet so I'm going to try to type coherently and hope my thoughts come out clearly.

About Sera - eep gasp - and the elf-thing *disgruntled sigh from the audience*  So the true thing that separates elves from humans isn't so much of isolationism... it's not even so simple as that. it's mostly about different cultures and wanting to hold on to ones culture - the bad blood between humans and elves that have not seemed to died down much at all doesn't help. Does Sera even think of it as a culture thing? or does she just see it in just "the elves are being whiny swore losers" once again I haven't slept yet so my wording isn't elegant. she doesn't want them to be separated, and she wants them to be equal, but does her version have all elves just be Andrastians or live in cities? Can't they be equal and keep their cultures? she doesn't like the dalish and their everything, she doesn't like city elves' trees. if the superior attitudes weren't there would she have a problem with it? if co-existence without erasing cultures were a thing. would that fit in Sera's "perfect world where everyone is just people"?

 

i'm just going to ramble a bit here, maybe answer my own question. It probably has everything to do with Sera being raised by a human noble, and not really experiencing life in an alianage, so she can't relate to that culture - often is excluded by her birth group, and the group she was raised in - not a human. (being a red jenny didn't have her relate to anyone except the down-trotted, and the race-"blind" thing going on probably also was an influence) It seems hinted at in her romance that she's dated elves before who eventually broke up with her over the elf thing (and prob said the phrase "too stupid to get it") is it more she wants the ground to be equal - and "blend" the cultures - so she could finally fit in with both? using the term "blend" loosely here.

I really hope people understand what I was trying to say here and I don't just sound like i'm spouting nonsense...

In other news I've put away ME3 for now and have jumped back into DAI... over my aunt's and uncles house and made a new playthrough... it's been so long since i played the beginning that I'm actually enjoying it. (this time playing a lady elf mage... with the intension of romancing Solas but the character's personality seems like it's gonna be tough to pull away from Sera)

 

...it is now 7 AM ... I've been trying to type this for a half-hour. x-x

Hello Sera thread. I'm full of love and fluffiness after Sera's nightmare scene  and I thought I should share it with someone. Couldn't figure out better place than her thread  . So here, have some love and fluffiness* throws love and fluffiness on everyone*.

 

 

Also, I've been waiting for ages for Sera x Vivi x Quizzy famous banter and this is what happened  . And "ages" means nearly 112 hours with my main, Qun Lady Warrior.

I would consider any machine intelligence capable of self examination( if that makes sense ) as sentient. But, that's just my opinion I'm certainly not a expert when it comes to AI.

 

Absolutely another aspect to add to my cobbled-together list.  I was saying it's the term to use that's tricky.  Certainly "alive" is one to use for a synthetic/machine intelligence with no "organic" component or origin, but a generic term remains elusive.

The concerns you bring up are all genuine. I think that Sera's ideas are consistent in their own logic, but they certainly lack nuance or an appreciation for the idea of different cultures living together in harmony and toleration. She conflates the isolationist attitude that some Dalish show with the culture, which isn't necessarily true of all Dalish.

 

I'm not sure we know enough about her background to understand where it all comes from exactly, though. I got the impression that she was only living with that Noblewoman for a few years, and that she did spend some time in the alienage. but maybe I misunderstood.

Hmmm... I wonder if she'd pick up magic as easily as she did archery? Can one be a self-taught mage? The elves have their keepers to teach them, and even Morrigan had help from Flemeth. If she wasn't taken in by the circles I think there's a good chance that she'd end up dead...

 

If she was in the circles she'd've been a troublemaker, but I guess it depends on the circle, given what Vivienne says about hem all being distinct from one another. She could possibly have ended up tranquil...
