The only way to get a smooth experience is teaming up with a guild or friends.. but I don't have that. Nor am I good with standing around and socializing, waiting to build new friendships.

That's why I hate Destiny too. I hate being at the mercy of or dependent on other people. Just want to play a damn game.

Man..ya sound like meh....Thats why I play ALONE in MMO..and peoples want me in their guild...cose I'm so awesome..but I love my freedom too much ...

In swtor..I do have a Guild...but for exemple in GW2...I made my Own......didnt wanna Join any . Beside..was fun making my own . Some games wont allow ya to do that..for exemple..Star Trek..ya need a whole bunch of peoples....to make one and ya gotta PAY them to help ya wich I never encourage . Since when helping cost money ? Sheesh....Swtor is the same...ya need 4 peoples..and the guild is only good if ya have many Sub for the Boost it give .

The other thing I find so wrong about TES Online specifically is that the single player games are kind of quiet, heavy on exploring and your own pace... almost Zen like.

Making it online just kind of takes all that away..

But I've complained enough :P

I did.. when it came out years ago. Didn't last long though.

I liked the setting they used though. Eberron or whatever.

Wait, are you talking about that Neverwinter game instead? I heard there was another D&D MMO.

Really, I'm just not that big on social stuff in games, period. Not big on other multiplayer either.

It kind of sucks since a lot of games are making this a big selling point. Destiny, Titan Fall, etc..

I'm out of touch. I just want to get lost in stories.

Yeah I don't care for MP at all. I've DAMPed with friends but I didn't enjoy it outside of that context..and we basically treated it as a social hour where we made elaborate headcanons for the MP characters and made fun of the repeating banter. I tried SWTOR for the stories (which are fun) but I just couldn't get through the grinding and I didn't wanna join up with some randos just to move the story along, so I quit.

It's not that I need a story per se because I love the open worlds of Bethesda where you can create your own narrative, but I just don't wanna deal with...people.

ME3's multiplayer can be fun with a good group, as can DAMP when I can get into a game (so much melee rogue hate online).

But Fight Night Champion is my favourite game to play online.

It's kinda weird to read this about SWTOR, a game that does not require grouping and doesn't even gate interesting story content behind grouping until the endgame. It's entirely possible to turn chat off and completely ignore everything but your class story and a couple of sidequests per area, never interact with another human being, and still be plenty leveled and geared to complete all of the SP content you want to do.

One of the biggest complaints from parts of the SWTOR fanbase is that the game is too geared toward the single player experience, and that an MMO ought to require "multiplayer" from its players. Seeing the opposite complaint is bizarre, to say the least.

Haha, I just find it extremely boring to do anything but class content and found the side quests levelling tedious and time consuming. I def didn't feel like the social aspects were forced on me and I appreciated that at first but it was just not worth it to do...got too bored. I assume it would have been more fun for me if I had someone else to play through that stuff with though.

Edit: it's the only MMO I've ever played so I can't comment on it from that angle at all, and I don't mean it as a negative, just as a "I personally didn't find it worth the time to do even though I really liked my class story." I may finish it someday, actually, but I feel a bit of dread thinking about it.

It didn't seem like it took long for them to give up cashing in anyways. Didn't it go F2P almost right away?

They still have loads of subs, and F2P generates obscene amounts of money like it always does. Cartel Coin purchases make SWTOR one of EA's biggest revenue generators.

But it took awhile for them to finally go F2P - a year and a half or so. Fall 2012, IIRC.
