the real question is whether I will be able to whoop ass with an arcane warrior once again
I vote yes.
Bioware confirmed at the PAX Prime panels that they'll be going back to allowing rogues to use multiple types of weapons, as in Origins. In DA2, Sebastian could only shoot, Isabela could only hop about with her two blades, and Varric could only use Bianca.
So if you want her to specialize in any roguish fighting style, you should be able to. They didn't mention whether this applied to Varric though... with his beloved crossbow.
They said you can equip Varric with daggers. However Bianca can still only be used by him.

By "whoop ass", you mean "sleep through victory", right?

Thor?
Arcane Warrior and Spirit Healer was downright broken
This thread can't be allowed to fall off the front page, no sir. Not while I'm around.
IMPORTANT QUESTIONS:
What is Sera's favorite drink? (Probably Hpnotiq, with a little lyrium in it. For edge.)
Will she ride around on Iron Bull's shoulder in battle? How far do you think he can throw her?
Who trims her bangs?
How many trees do you think she could climb in an hour? More or less than eight?
Do you think she steals from the other companions? What do you think she steals?

The Cannonball Special?
I bet she steals underwear

Skittles and tequila ![]()

I sure hope so, would make for some potentially hilarious party banter. Perhaps one of Vivienne's fine hats, or Solas' pantaloons.
It's hard since we know so little, but what nickname would Varric give her? I would say 'Fisty', but that seems inappropriate...
'Frisky', perhaps? She seems to embody both sides of the word well.
Edit: Massive facepalm after realizing there is yet another... connotation to the word. To clarify: I mean frisky as in playful, as well as willing to frisk someone of their wealth.

You never know, she might have all three sides covered.

ayyyyyyyy
Just pointing this out I seen a interesting on this forum and couple other places. That Sera is actually Briala from masked empire. after just reading few passages on my sister's kindle. I can see why they say that. But I have my doubts
Arcane Warrior and Spirit Healer was downright broken
please explain. what made them both broken. I assume the build for Arcane Warrior where you take no damage and can heal one self?
As for spirit Healer, don't see how it was really broken, as it was just the only class that allowed you to revive people in combat. outside of items.

I haven't read the book yet, but just taking a quick glance at the wiki article for Briala I see that it says that she has brown hair, dark skin and freckles. While hair can always be dyed, it sounds like Briala has a different skin complexion than Sera. Are there any compelling reasons to suspect these two characters might be the same person, despite the difference in appearance?

Difference in appearance, plus vast differences in apparent demeanor.
Pretty sure they are two separate people. Wouldnt mind a cameo though

True enough. ![]()
I've read the whole book and let me tell you, Briala personality is NOT Skittles and Tequila... more along the lines of justice for her people, sera doesn't look like the type for justice unless its her own.

Perhaps Sera may have ties to Briala?
Considering Inquisition's companions were all described as powerful and influential in their own right (or something along those lines) I'm curious about what Sera did before throwing her lot in with the Inquisitor. I haven't read The Masked Empire yet but I know the elves are supposed to play a key role. I remember reading that there was a thieves guild in Orlais. Maybe she's a high ranking member or even the leader?

That was my guess, was that she's the leader of a Thieve's Guild.
Perhaps Sera may have ties to Briala?
I'm curious how that would work out...they seem to come from vastly different backgrounds.
Sera is probably thieves guild. It is possible that Briala needed to rely on them at some point while she was serving Celene. Or it could be that the guild/Sera have allied themselves with Briala post-TME storyline. Regardless, the chaos in Orlais will offer ample opportunities for financial gain for someone like Sera (if she is even from Orlais ofc).
I do wonder why Sera would join up with the Inquisitor/Inquisition then.
Well, not everyone that joins the Inquisition is going to do so because they're honorable, good folk who wish to save the world. I imagine there's people who will either use the chaos for their own benefit or cling to the biggest piece of driftwood they can find in the sea. Although, like every past elf companion we've had, I get the feeling she'll want to help out the rest of her people if the opportunity arises.
