I think you missed that I wrote that Sera has square face, square jaw with broad nose and instead focused only on short hair. Yeah, short hair is irrelevant, square face and big broad nose are not.

 

Also I don't see how your first pic is relevant to a discussion. Bioware elves were close to Tolkien archetype in previous 2 games - immortal or have very long lives, magic wielders, living in forests and generally close to nature, skilled archers. And their looks were close too. Now suddenly they're going to be like dwarves? I don't think so. 

 

And yeah, I also hoped to see better looking elves than in two previous games with a new engine. I'm a bit dissappointed.

 

Honestly, in my opinion the DA elves have been a subversion of the Tolkien tropes. Yes some of them live in the forest, but they are not the beautiful and wise creatures that everyone looks to for guidance like in Tolkien's tales. And yes I know that some of Tolkien's elves are bastards (I have read Silmarillion) but still.

I think they are very much a subversion of the common tropes, as many things in Thedas are.  This is a good thing, as it plays against expectations and keeps you guessing.

i for one think sera is very beautiful and looks like an elf.  while some one brought up norse mythology and that elves were supposed to be very beautiful, beauty is subjective and traits the norse found beautiful may not be beautiful by today's standards.  

hell there is no universal standard of beauty, it changes every few generations.

 

in all three games i have found that the elves look amazing, and different in each game is fine with me.

Personally, I never expected anyone to look the same in DA:I due to the new engine. New engine means new rendering and mapping techniques, which in turn means stuff will look a little different. I like the new elf design a lot. Much better than DA2's. If every elf in the game is comparable to Sera's general appearance, then I will be a happy panda.

Speaking of elves I really hope she will have alot of dialogue/opinions about Dalish elves, seeing as she is a city elf the contrast in their cultures is interesting. I will be playing my canon fav for my first run again Dalish she-elf rogue so I'm hoping for some interesting scenes between the two of them in regards to their lives as elves in Thedas.

 

Also are they bringing back the Irish and Welsh accents for the Dalish in this game? I know a Dalish inquisitor won't have one *sadness* but does anyone know if the clan they hail from will have accents like Merrill's clan did. I loved that in DA2, hearing Northern Irish and Irish accents (well some of them sounded like they were from Meath lulz ) The Irish accents in DA2 were pretty decent, I liked em. Jeez you'd hear em in movies sometimes and my god they butcher em, it's painful, no Irish person sounds like that anywhere and I'm a card carrying paddy I should know.

I love the idea of Sera, Varric and the Inquisitor forcing Cassandra to play strip poker with them, only for them all to end up naked while Cassandra remains fully clothed.

Would happily tap again and again if she was available to my fem Inquisitor but alas she is not.   So now I have a reason to roll out a lone bro run, did it for Morrigan I can do it again!
