As I've been led to understand it the key thing with Fifty Shades is that people who actually do bdsm say it's a completely false depiction of their lifestyle. It's not that bdsm in of itself is degrading, if it's consensual, it's that consent is not properly sought in the film and the lead character is manipulative and abusive. I can't really comment as I haven't seen the movie or read the book and have no wish to do either.

I'm not sure If I should watch it. There is this whole mix of criticism whether it's degrading to women, or there's nothing degrading about it.
so I'm just away from all of that.
Degrading aside, it's not worth watching. The humor isn't funny and the sex isn't sexy. The acting isn't good either, but I'm willing to blame the source material.

Hey Seranaders.
Have some fancy cookies. You can either eat them or chuck them from the roof.
(PS. this totally counts as Sera content. I mentioned the roof.)
Those cookies look too good to throw off the roof. Sera uses horrid ones with raisins...

Exactly. All this.
No matter if your sub signed a contract, if you try and have sex and she's kicking you off and crying no, you check if it's safe word time not threaten to gag and bind her.

Fifty shades has no idea how BDSM works. Christian Grey is a Dom imagined by someone who is not a Dom or a Sub and has no idea how either a Dom or a Sub behave within the context of a power play.
The signing a contract part is especially stupid. 1. It's not legally binding. 2. The contract ends the minute the sub says so.
Got more to say but gotta get to work.

Wasnt 50SG a plagerized fanfiction of twilight?
Not plagerized, but yes it was fanfiction then she went and changed the names. But if you examine the two, they're so far removed from one another that you can't even call it Twilight fanfiction anymore.

Not plagiarised, but adapted by the original (crappy by all accounts) author.

So the guy is a screwed up user, abuser and she ends up being ok with it because she ends up liking the sex? That's pretty much what all the back lash seems to be pointing too. *not that I would really know. I avoided the entire thing like the plague.

That's exactly what it ends up being. "Oh no, it's not rape, see she ended up orgasming and liking it. Besides, no guy that handsome and rich and morally upstanding would ever rape someone!" *said in a high and mocking falsetto with a scowl*

Do you see any sparkling vampires, highschools, or woods in 50 Shades of Grey?
It has to be the same as the original source to be plagiarized.

The whole concept reminded me of this offensive film from the mid-80's with Kim Basinger and Mickey Rourke where he plays this enigmatic coporate exec who meets Basinger and does mental s&m on her. There really isn't BDSM in the film but Basinger is degraded for his amusement (forced to crawl to him following a trail of bills he tosses on the floor). But for some people who saw it he was this hot rich guy in cool clothes who was just being kinky. For a lot of people it was pretty abusive and awful. I sort of had that old vibe watching trailers for 50 Shades.
